Warburton Is To Star With Smith
[Monday, March 12th, 2001]Patrick Warburton is to star next to Will Smith as his partner in the sequel of 'Men In Black'. Warburton is to star as Smith's new partner, replacing Tommy Lee Jones, he has a medium size role but significant to the story. He is said to die and Smith avenges his death. The movie will be released in the fall of 2002, About reports:
Patrick Warburton has some experience playing superheroes, from voicing Superman in a Jerry Seinfeld American Express commercial to playing The Tick in an upcoming FOX TV series. But while promoting his role in the comedy The Dish, Warburton revealed his role in a major upcoming sequel.
"Barry Sonnenfeld's offered me a role in Men in Black 2 which I'll do in just a few months, two or three months. [I'll play] Will Smith's first partner after Tommy Lee Jones. It's a good role in the first 10, 15 pages of the script."
Warburton says his character is "a real person," not an alien. Though his cryptic description of the beginning pages suggests he may be the partner who gets killed and must be avenged, Warburton responded to that suggestion with "I can't say."
That film won't be ready until 2002, but you will see Warburton on TV this fall.
