Sam Elliott Gets 'Off The Map'

Sam Elliott ("The Hulk") has joined the cast of Holedigger Films' indie feature "Off the Map," reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Actor-helmer Campbell Scott will direct.

Joan Allen and J.K. Simmons starring and 11-year-old newcomer Valentina deAngelis making her feature acting debut.

"Map" is based on a play by Joan Ackermann, who adapted the material. The project is a coming-of-age tale about an 11-year-old girl (deAngelis) who, during the summer, sees her father (Elliott) come down with a crippling depression. During the course of the season, she learns answers to several mysteries and comes to terms with love and loss.

Production begins this week in Taos, N.M.
