'Old School 2' No Go For Director Phillips
[Tuesday, February 24th, 2004]
Todd Phillips is cranky over the fact that DreamWorks invoked pics Old School and Road Trip --- which he wrote and directed --- in the marketing of its latest frat fare, Euro Trip, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In response, he says he won't write or helm the sequel to Old School, as was the plan.
Although all three films share exec producers --- Montecito Pictures' Tom Pollock and Ivan Reitman --- Phillips had nothing to do with Euro Trip. (Pic was directed by Jeff Schaffer.)
The Euro Trip poster specifies this distinction and reads: "From the producers of 'Road Trip' and 'Old School.' "
But Phillips says no matter. When reached by Daily Variety, he confirmed that Old School 2 was a no go for him.
