The feature stars Timothy Spall as Britain's most prolific hangman, Albert Pierrepoint, who executed 450 people and became a minor celebrity before resigning in 1956.
"Adrian Shergold has made a remarkable and bold statement," said IFC's Jonathan Sehring. "('Pierrepoint') may be an English film, but challenges what is one of the seminal conflicts in the U.S. today."
