James Cameron and 20th Century Fox announced that they will go forward with the long-planned $200 million production of sci-fi tentpole "Avatar."

Pic pits a band of humans against in a battle against an alien on another planet, will feature C.G. techniques that Cameron has been experimenting with over the last several years and will seek to seamlessly blend CGI and live-action footage and characters.
