Rod Lurie ("The Contender") will rewrite and direct "The Angel of Death" for Spyglass Entertainment, reports Variety.
It tells the true story of Efren Saldivar, a respiratory therapist working at a Glendale hospital who murdered several of his patients. Saldivar was convicted for his crimes and is currently serving a life sentence in a California prison.
Project will center on the police investigation of the tragic killings.
His order of business includes finishing the script for an untitled media project for Steven Spielberg. He next will direct "Beat the Eagle," a presidential comedy.
Lurie is then expected to begin helming "Angel" in the last quarter of 2003.
