'Boones Lick' For Tom Hanks To Produce

Boone's LickUniversal Pictures is in negotiations to pick up author Larry McMurtry's 19th century American West novel "Boone's Lick" for Tom Hanks to produce, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

"Lick," published in November 2000 from Simon & Schuster, is about the Cecil family, led by Mary Margaret Cecil, who packs up her brood of kids and travels from Boone's Lick, Mo., to Fort Phil Kearny, Wyo., to search for her wayward husband. Also joining the family is her husband's brother Seth, who has been Mary Margaret's mainstay all along; she intends to tell her husband she is leaving him for Seth.
