The movie is based on the underground comic series published by Image Comics and Flypaper Press. Originally written by Gotham Chopra and Brett Lewis with art by Michael Avon Oeming and Jason Baumgartner, 'Bulletproof' comic centered on a Chinese refugee who travels to America seeking an enigmatic hero who he believes can save his family from an oppressive Chinese government.
In the MGM adaptation, things will be decidedly different. Directed by video helmer Paul Hunter ('Lady Marmalade'), scribes Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff ('Men of War') will tell a tale about an immortal martial arts master(Chow-Yun Fat) who becomes a mentor to a young, street-wise boy(Scott).
John Woo and Terence Chang are producing via their MGM-based Lion Rock shingle, along with Chuck Roven's Atlas Entertainment.
