'Sum Of All Fears' Producer Picks Up 'Virtue'

Producer Mace Neufeld has picked up the spec script "By Virtue Fall" from scribe Sheldon Turner, reports Variety.

Described as a character-driven drama flavored by cop suspensers like "Training Day," spec follows a young Drug Enforcement Agency operative who finds himself framed: The honest cop is sent to prison, while his corrupt partner skates and gets away with his misdeeds. In prison, the clean partner becomes toughened and loses all his scruples, while the corrupt cop -- anguished over the loss of his partner -- straightens out.

Turner has sold pitches that include "52 Blocks" to the also Sony-based producer John Baldecchi and white-collar-crime laffer "Penal Colony" to Intermedia Films-based Mark Johnson, for whom he's also adapted the Eugene Izzi novel "The Booster."
