Paramount-based MTV Films has optioned the rights to British filmmaker Ash's new feature pic "The Bush," reports Variety.
The movie is a comic story about the multi-cultural explosion of hip-hop on the American music scene and the rise and fall of the L.A. hip-hop nightclub "Water the Bush."
It is set in 1990, is the real story about two young hapless Brits -- Ash and Jon Deprudhoe -- who ended up running a gangster hip-hop nightclub where acts like Public Enemy, N.W.A. and Ice T played in front of audiences comprised of gangsters, pornstars, the Hollywood elite and the homeless.
Ash, whose full name is Ashley Baron-Cohen, is cousin of U.K. comedian Sacha Baron-Cohen, aka cult comedy character Ali G.
