Nia Vardalos ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding") is set to star in "Connie and Carla Do L.A," which she wrote for Spyglass Entertainment, reports Variety.
Is to be a female buddy comedy in the vein of Billy Wilder's "Some Like It Hot." Shingle is remaining tight-lipped about the storyline, although it's said to contain music-driven elements.
Vardalos, who penned the script, will co-star. No director is yet attached. Spyglass, which pursued Vardalos well before IFC/Gold Circle/Playtone's "Greek" became a box office phenom, hopes to begin shooting in the spring.
As of Wednesday, "Greek" has grossed $82.3 million, good for second place in the overall box office during the Labor Day weekend, behind Disney's "Signs."
