'Crazy Taxi' Gets Budget And Production Schedule

Crazy Taxi
Mindfire Entertainment has teamed with Sega to turn its "Crazy Taxi" arcade driving game into a $20 million-$40 million feature film, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Richard Donner was to direct the film, but the absence of plot elements stalled the project. Once the option ran out, Mindfire picked up the rights with plans to fast-track the movie. "We see this as a fun, PG-rated comedy that blends the action and car crashes of 'The Fast and the Furious' with the drama of HBO's 'Taxicab Confessions' and the comedy of 'Rat Race,' " Mindfire president and chief operating officer Mark Altman said.

Mindfire Entertainment teamed with Sega for the recently wrapped movie "The House of the Dead."

It's expected to go into production as early as first-quarter 2003.
