AIR Prods. is tuning up a biopic of
Eva Cassidy, whose music did not make an impact until a posthumous album became a hit in the U.K.
Virtually unknown outside her native D.C., Cassidy drew her biggest success six years after her 1996 death from melanoma at the age of 33. A compilation album, "Songbird," was released in 1998, and after her version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was championed by a British DJ, became an international hit. The album was a million-seller in the U.S. and in the U.K.
