Andrea Berloff has been tapped to write "The Fugees," an adaptation of a New York Times article revolving around a group of soccer-playing refugee kids who settled near Atlanta.
The article told the story of a group of kids from such war-torn countries as Afghanistan, Bosnia, Burundi, Congo, Gambia, Iraq, Kosovo, Liberia, Somalia and Sudan who were placed in Clarkston, Ga., a town that after a few years began to turn against the new arrivals.
Audrey Wells has signed on to write and direct Universal Pictures' " The Fugees ." Based on a true story, project centers on a youth soccer club made up of international refugees who settled in Clarkston, Ga.
