The Ancient One is the Ra's Al Ghul of the Marvel Universe, who has over used the Lazarus pit and lost his mind. Ra's magic isn't real but because he believes it is, the Lords of Order (DC) have taken pity on him and they play along. Dormammu is actually a Lord of Chaos, and Steven Strange is a conduit for Nabu (Doctor Fate). So Doctor Strange is actually (unknowingly) a member of the League of Assassins and the new Demon's Head.
