Armando Barrillo tried to fool the authorities in believing he died during surgery. That same thing supposedly happened to a real drug lord in Mexico called Amado Carrillo, but everyone knows he didn't really die. I mean it's obvious it was based on him just compare the names. The same thing happens in Traffic, there's a drug dealer that fooled the authorities into believing he died in surgery. Salma Hayek plays his mistress briefly in that one.
