cos im a learning adviser, and i sit and play on the internet all day, cos i don't have anything better to do!

Yeah I figure that too, but after fast food, retail seems like freakin' heaven. Plus most of the crap I applied for is nightfill, I dont mind the late hours, pay is good, no customers....

You should do it now, most retails are hiring for Christmas period, if you do it later on it'll take a while to get processed, I applied, then got an interview 2 weeks later

Its not all night like supermarkets, I think the latest to close is 3am or something, not too bad. Plus in Christmas rush + after Christmas stocktake sales, they do heaps of refilling and shit...tiring, but not too bad.

I applied for ColesMyer, so it covers all those retail stores within the franchise = more chances for selection.

But go for stores that you might also get a part time job at afterwards so you wont lose it after the Christmas period too. Basically any supermarkets/retail stores do their hiring around August/September/October, then start about Nov.

Depends on where you live, in Australia you would get around nine or ten dollars an hour.

You could be a check out clerk or be unpacking and putting things up onto shelfs etc.

and $5.50 in your currency is basically like $9 AUS.

I can't think of any real cons... except for may the boring and repetitive work.

You need to start somewhere to build up your resume and these places don't really ask for experience.

You don't really get a raise in a super market because there's plenty of people wanting to work there and even you stay there long enough to get one it won't be worth it.

well may after 7 or 8 months when you have a bit of customer experience, you could apply to be a sales person in a clothes shop or something like that.
