Edna- Santa Clause was a wicked cool flick. Dudley Moore! Christmas 2? Its a damn good film!

I didn't think Alien Ressurection was scary.

It was boring, it was B&W, I hate B&W movies. There were more Germans than Schindler that cared about Jews. Schindler got rich himself using Jews as cheap labor so bugger to this glorification. I think it is ridiculous they run around speaking English humbug.

I have to take SERIOUS issue with you there, Finti. I am a big fan of the book and became a big fan of the film as well

That it was black and white was irrelevant to its quality, and it created the right mood.

The film at no point over-glorified Schindler. He was shown as a very flawed man who did indeed use slave labour. But if you want any evidence of WHY he deserves glorification just look at what THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES who worked for him say about him. For example,

"Life working for Schindler was hard. But we didn't care; compaired to everything else it was paradise. To us, the man was a saint."

When you are surrounded by an evil regime like the Nazi's, it is very easy to exploit others and care nothing. But Schindler DID care, and he made a HUGE effort to make amends when he realised the system he had been supporting.

Schindler had, in his own words, more money than any one man could make in a lifetime. He got rid of all of it. ALL of it. He spent EVERY SINGLE MARK he had on saving those Jews. He ruined himself; he spent the rest of his life in virtual poverty and died a shaodw of his former self.

This is a man who realised his wrongs and gave away everything he had to save over a thosuand lives in the centre of the most evil regime in Europe.

To say he shouldn't be glorified is way off. I have never heard of a greater hero.

And yes, there were other Germans that cared about Jews. The film did not deny that. Although his part is smaller in the movie than the book, you clearly see Schindler talking with Madritsch, one of his fellow factory workers at Krakow who also worked hard to keeps Jews safe. he wanted him to help him take the Jews to a safe place. Sadly, Madritsch did not believe the idea would work.

He is one of the greatest heroes the Jewish community has. They always adored him. I don't think it is for any of us to say he has been over-glorified, when they very people you accuse him of exploting loved him so?

He saved some jews. But jews was not the only one in those camps. He didnt care about them because they couldnt pay their way out. He saved some jews, but there were people who sacrifised more than their fortune for people in need.
There were a lot of people who willingly gave their lifes in the struggle against tyranny Schindler saw which way the war was turning he just saved his own ass by helping some jews.

Schinler's sub-camp only had Jews because if he had Poles he would not be payting the SS< he would be paying the workers. And he wanted good relations with the SS.

Let me make one thing straight. Onl;y FIVE people on Schindler's List paid their way in. And even that is nort fair; they were the original investors that let him set-up the factory in the first place; they deserved at least a place on the list.

oh yeah the book ougt to be very objective. How nmany jews did he save ..around 1200 . Well in Denmark they ran an underground transport to Sweden, they saved probably just as many jews as OS

So? Does that diminish his acheivement? And why should the book not be unbiased? It goes a long way towards showing his flaws.

One of the reasons he stands out is BECAUSE of his flaws, and BECAUSE he was part of the system, and BECAUSE of how much he gave up.

Anyways I thought the movie sucked, I hate black and white and I found it rather boring. As I have with many of Spielbergs films.

Sadly, most of them were dead before Schindler really came to light. I remember World at War interviwwing Himmler's Adjutant; fascinating stuff.

I thought the movie was masterfully directed and extremely moving. I really dont know much about Schindler, but that doesn't matter, afterall it wasn't a documentary film.

I think "Schindler's List" is hands down the best film ever made.

Schindler saved 1200 jews, great. Only thing is that 1200 other jews took their place in the gass chambers. So what Schindler did was stalling time for "his" jews and luckily for them he was able to do so until Germany lost. But dont fool your self other jews died in their place.

"Schindler's List" is damn depressing. I get pretty teary in the end when he says "I could have got more" This man saved the lives of so many people, yet he wasn't satisfied. That breaks my heart, every time.

He just saved "his" Jews, the 1200 he saved was replaced by others . If schindler had not done what he did, doesnt mean that there would have been 1200 more jews to die.If Schindler had not done it, 1200 jews that did die might have lived.


Time took its tall and the exterminations camp handled what they could no way they could exterminate all the jews. And the fact that a lot of jews lived in the States at the time too

I came to the conclusion that "Schindler's List" was the best film ever far before I came here. I'm no puppet.

I dont lose anything, and I came tothe conclusion that Schindler is one of the most boring films I ever wathced, just as bad as Breathless.

finti: bullocks to you too. the point is spielberg chose to make this movie, and knew that it wasn't a commercial mass-seller, but he wanted to make it partly because he is a jew, and wanted to tell the story of a man who were brave enough to help jews out of the nazi-camps when he himself was former supporter of the nazis and he risked his life.

Well, I sure as heck don't feel that anyone who does not like Schindler's List is being stupid. It's not a film for everyone. All I took issue with was the idea that Schindler was over-glorified. And it's not as if Spielberg hasn't done enough work in showing the heroism of the troops in war as well. In many ways, Schindler's form of flawed heroism doesn't get enough attention.

In the end, the Jews could not give him enough praise, and neither can I. His death was GREATLY mourned, and he was a deserving subject for a film.

Meanwhile, there is always a good chance that one of the coming LOTR movies will sneak onto my top ten list...

i never really thought the movie was really good, just good enough to watch, but when i tried to watch it the second time i got bored, and this is coming from someone who has seen a few movies about 100 times. and if i cant watch a movie 2 times without getting board then its obvious that the movie isnt very good.

i watched boondock saints more then 20 times in a month i loved the movie . and just cause your being a major (EDITED) right now .doesnt mean you have to try to get me pissed off by making fun of one of my favoritre movies . i love it and leave it at that . and stop bregging that yyou watch movie a lot you havent seen any movie more then a 100 times . tops 40-50
