Wow! Have you guys seen 3PO's new look? Here's some samples-www.theforce.net/episode2...3p0-10.jpg

Based on these pictures,I assume Shmi put him together with spare parts lying around the shop.

Ratcat
Actually EJ it's really an old look. smile Rather delapidated and scrap looking, which I guess is the idea. BTW, doesn't look like he's made of solid gold to me. smile

theEviljedi
This is his temperary look until Anakin rescues him I assume. He will probally get his gold coverings while on Naboo.

Ratcat
I not sure, could go wither way. In the review of the 10 minutes special that TFN posted it sayd that GL confirms that he starts the film skelital but by the end of the film is a lot closer to how we remember him.

At least he'll have his shell but he may still be somewhat discoloured. Unless they do a last scene makeouver on him, that seems to be a theme with R2 and 3PO at the end of Star Wars films, though we obviously never saw 3Po at the end of TPM.

Makes sense, EvilJedi.

I think it's Owen who puts the plating on 3PO. Notice by the way on the same site (which has many many pics from the EPII teaser of the new OT video set) that Ep2 will also contain scenes with 3PO WITHOUT the plates. That means he will get them during the movie. Great fun!

Ratcat
I think we had posts that crossed in the ether there queeg as we both ended up saying almost the same thing.

It would be an interesting twist if Owen does do the shell construction of Threepio, but yet another big addition to the reasons that Owen and Threepio should remember each other.

theEviljedi
Being that he is made from "junk" I would say ethier Shmi or Watto added the coverings.

Ratcat
I doubt Watto would even bother. One of the reasons for saying Owen was that it looks like the Lars homestead will be vary delapidated in EpII and Owen is actually working to put it right, as if they'd just bought a fixer upper type house???

This is all from TFN, so don't shoot me if it turns out to be garbage.

Darth Daft
In the On-Location video with Anthony Daniels a while back, he stated that in some scenes he would puppeteering like they did in TPM and in other scenes he would wear the suit like he did in the OT. That gives us another reason to assume that some scenes will have Threepio without coverings (pupeteering) and some where he will have coverings (suit).

theEviljedi
And here are a few examples of that-www.theforce.net/episode2...3p0-14.jpg

Darth Daft
Thanx EJ. I haven't visited theforce.net for so long that I hadn't even realised that they had those cool pics. I wonder why Anthony Daniels is doing the puppeteering this time around. You'd think they'd get a professional.

Ratcat
There are about 30 pics in all, though small they do show a reasonable about of detail. I could almost be tempted to by the thing to see it.

theEviljedi
Sadly,I'm going to buy ANOTHER copy of the Star Wars saga aswell.

This may just be the best of them all.

Jedi Mercenary
to tell you the truth, I don't think 3po was ever finished, you'll notice in the original trilogy that at his waist you can see his innards, you really notice this when he's bending.

Exactly. 3PO always looked the same, just like the unit that
was rude to him on Cloud City.

He probably gets the
golden plates for doing something special. And then he gets his
memory erased.

I also think Owen may have some bad experiences
with 3PO in white, thus explaining his attitude to protocol driods
in ANH.

Ratcat
I have no idea. I think this is part of the current bug problem.
emoticons are being translated to html I think. God I'm confused.
