Wanted to know what everyone thought of this union. Personally, I love it. If you wanted to hook Luke with anyone in the EU, it would have to be Mara. She represents the EU, in a way, as the first major character created exclusively for it.

with the shortage of Jedi, the rule is suspended, there are always exceptions like Ki-Adi-Mundi. Luke and Mara belong together. that's all

wow... I think Mara's awesome! She and Luke are perfect together...It was about time that luke got himself a woman...From the scare with his sister in the movies to his unending series of ill fated girlfriends, Luke deserved to get married!

Mara's a great character...and I think the marriage thing to Luke was a great move

i felt the same way, after all those sad endings to Lukes romance life I was like damn, way to go Luke. Gariel, Callista (that was the saddest for me). And Mara. Luckily, she's also the coolest romance he's had too. She rocks.

Yeah in the Thrawn trilogy, Luke was A #1 on her $#!* list, in the Jedi Academy trilogy, she wasn't too fond of him. In the "false Thrawn Alarm" duology, she really warmed up to him. Took her like 10 years though.

In the book "Edge of Victory: Rebirth", the son of Luke Skywalker is born. His name is Ben Skywalker (Ben as in Obi Wan's Ben). Mara had a disease which wasn't cured completely by Vergere's tears, and both she and the baby were in extreme danger during his birth, and at that time Luke gave his strength in the force to both Mara and the unborn child, and created a force bond which cured the disease completely, and Ben came into the world.

Ben is force sensitive, and is strong in the force. Luke has also foreseen a grown up Ben playing around in Zonama Sekot.

In the comic Star Wars union Luke was really happy about marrying Mara even though a few people diden't agree to them getting married, but it is funny reading in the books on how well they get on with each other and Luke will be a good father to ben. I knew in away that he would call his kid Ben after all apart from yoda Obi wan was person who had respected.

He is 3 years old currently.

Problem is, just saying 'that rule is suspended now' somewhat misses the point that that rule was essential. They didn't just do it to be awkward.

great match in my opinion...took a long time, but still great. I wonder what happened to Callista though...i know her and Luke made peace a while after she left...but did she ever get her Force ability's back?

In the first vision in Rebirth, He says a place like Coruscant but not Coruscant. But in TUF he explains that in his vision, he saw Ben flying a Sekotan ship (during the vision in Rebirth), and that he belongs in Sekot. It isn't explicitly stated but I believe it means that he was in Sekot.

I don't think that you hear about Callista again in New jedi order but their is ways to regain the abilities of the force.

Luke and Mara are a great couple. I was so pleased when they got together.

HAHAHA So true!! If there was anyone Luke should have married, it is Mara. Sorry to anyone who likes Callista, but she joins my most hated EU characters list, along with Qwi Xux and Kyp Durron.

A very interesting thing I found out last night is that Mara actually means bitter. Quite fitting if you think about her life as the Emperor's Hand and how she wanted to kill Luke at first. I wonder if Zahn did this on purpose... I'm sure he did, I think its unlikely that it was coincidence.

I'd pick Mara for Luke any day of the year. He deserves a sassy redhead, not some something-hundred old half computer ex-jedi blonde bimbo.... as you can see I have *such* a high opinion of Callista
