Tim Burton great director of our time, Edward Swissorhands, Batman, Big Fish, what makes him great, and what is his best film but what was also his most disapointing film?
wha do u think?

Cinemaddiction
Best, "Ed Wood".
Worst, "POTA".

Tim Burton is a great director because he's divinely original and unique. He's got a macabre style when it comes to his wiriting/directing/producing, and it's spanwed some of the most memorable movie scenes and characters of all time.

"Big Fish" was his breakout from his dark little corner, but I think he'll get back into the twisted sort of things when he revamps "Charlie".

Lord Soth
I've only seen Batman, Batmna Returns and Sleepy Hollow, so I can't really judge

roundisfunny
Of his "well-known" works, I'm partial to (in order of preference):

1) Ed Wood
2) Mars Attacks
3) Batman
4) Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
5) Beetlejuice
6) Planet of the Apes & Sleepy Hollow (tie)

I did not like Edward Scissorhands AT ALL, and I thought Batman Returns was only good in the sense that it was better than its sequels, which isn't saying much.

I never saw Frankenweenie or Big Fish, but I probably should.

Lord Soth
Oh yeah, I've seen Mars Attacks! and Beetlejuice, too. Those were pretty good

even if you dont like his movies, you have to respect him for his talent, creativity and originality. I am so looking forward to the chocolate factory its gonna be amazing

Best - "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice"

Worst - Planet of the Apes (I kinda like it though)

WindDancer
Best: Batman
Worst: Planet of the Apes remake

Drifter101

Dario Argento
Best - Too hard to pick

Worst - Planet of the Apes

Jamief90
Its hard to say what his best work is Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish are all great but 3 completly different genres.

I'd have to say worst i've seen is Planet of the Apes and I also didn't like Mars Attacks.

Most antisipated film must be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, can't think of anyone else i'd rather have making it, its got a lot to live up too as the original movie was excellent.

ragesRemorse
Worst would ahve to be, Planet of the apes, Mars attacks.

Best.. Batman, beetljuice, nightmare before christmas

amity75

i think all his movies reach perfection , with the exception off all the batman sequeals . the first batman with micheal keaton rocked but then what happened ?

then planet off the apps , i give 5 out of ten
in some ways it was realy good , but others it realy sucked

mars attack , edward sizzor hands , sleepy hollow , a nightmare before christmas , beetlejuice and big fish are , well i think "flawless"
i think all are great and so unque and original .
Happy Dance

Drifter101
planet of the apes is 1 out of 10

scubamonkey
Pee-wee's Big Adventure is his best...then it's all downhill from there. He's OK, but he's also way over-rated.

Drifter101
downhill? what about batman, beetlejuice, night b4 christmas, and so forth, downhill was planet of the apes

scubamonkey
Like I said...those movies are just OK for me. I could take them or leave them. They don't move me either way. In my opinion, they're over-rated.

silver_tears
Best: Edward Scissorhands, one of my all time favourite movies ever made big grin
Sleepy Hollow, very nicely done smile
Big Fish, the carnival popcorn scene rocked laughing out loud
ANBC, Jack Skellington rocks, and is very original big grin

Worst: Haven't seen any I haven't liked yet, and have high hopes for Charlie. yes

Also I love the music selection in his movies, him and Danny Elfman (also from the Simpsons) mix well together.

quiball
I love Tim Burton's style. I reckon they're all (the ones i've seen) pretty good.

xmen fan
Edward Siccorhands, and sleepy hollow! i haven't seen a movie he made that i hated!

Drifter101
yea he is great in many ways

Drifter101
batman was a revival for the character, he brought back the dark mysterious nature of him he broke that corny 60's version of him

xmen fan
i think sleepyhollow was his 2nd best work 1st was edwardsiccorhands

xmen fan
i cryed at the end of edward siccorhands, i like movies that make you cry!

PurityKnight

Aku
Edward scissor hands was scary. Sleep hollow was cool although from hell was abit boring. A one watch film. Hes ok but not incredible.

Happy Dance - This banana should be in a porn movie, hes so coooool.

Johnnyrocker
Tim Burton is the most EXCELLENT man (other than johnny depp) alive! he it a brilliant genious!

Best: Everything except:
Worst: Planet of the apes, fox and the hound (dont get me rong, good movie, not very tim burtonish.

I luv edward scissorhands, NBC, Beetlejuice, sleepy hollow, and all his other classics. Creative genious!

Johnnyrocker
by the by, Edward scissorhands was so not scary.

Kes
From Hell is not a Tim Burton movie.

Drifter101
Hes just a good director from my view, maybe it is his reputation of dark films that he has that draws me in.

Aku
Doesnt anyone like Peter Jackson.

Anyone seen brain dead? or bad taste? those films owned. laughing out loud

Drifter101
yea peter jackson is a good director he just needs like a few more great films to be considered one of the great directors

Kes
Lets keep this on Tim Burton.

LimeLight
I really like Tim Burtons movies.
His best are:
The Nightmare Before Christmas (although he produced it and Henry Selick directed it)
Beetlejuice
Batman
Batman Returns
Edward Scissorhands
Big Fish
Sleepy Hollow
His not so good films are:
Mars Attacks
The Planet of the Apes

I cant wait to see how Willy Wonka turns out.

Drifter101
planet of the apes was i believe his worst

vaya_the_elf
Well I think he did a great job in batman, batman returns, and of course The nightmare before Christmas.
I hated mars attacks, and did not see the remake of planet of the apes.
But over all Tim Burton is great.

Drifter101
yes batman films were the best i think they are the best super hero flicks yet

Mr Parker
Yeah Tim Burton has made some good films before.Among them Big fish,Edward scissorhands, and ed wood.I think his best film is a NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

most dissapointing.BATMAN & BATMAN RETURNS easily. mad Like I said,Burton has made some good flicks, but BATMAN isnt one of them.

Mr Parker
obviously I totally disagree.I find them to be one of the worst super hero flicks yet.but at least for bats, spiderman tops him as being an even more horrible film production.

Drifter101
what was wrong w/ batman please explain in detail

Kes
Mr.Parker doesnt like comic book adaptations.

Mr Parker
Thats not true.I loved Superman 1& 2,Conan the Barbarian,Dick Tracy and Daredevil. But most the time hollywood screws up comicbook films with stupid idiotic changes.

Mr Parker
Lets see,Michael keaton was about the worst casting choice in comicbook history. I mean short, pudgy gut, receding hairline, half bald, short runt Michael keaton for tall, muscular, handsome, full set of hair Bruce wayne? what a total joke, thats somthing you would expect to see on saturday night live.It was like watching AL BUNDY walking around Bruce wayne manor, many people laughed at him because he was so physically wrong for the role. The movie should have been called THE JOKER because thats who it was all about with bats just a supporting character.the first hour in a half was extremely boring with them just standing around talking practically the whole damn time, yawn.Killing the joker, the biggest sin of all in that movie.

That totally betrayed the batman mythos.Bats killing people in cowardly fashion.something bats would NEVER do.like having the batmobile go into the jokers hideout dropping the bomb in front of them.his life was NEVER in danger since he was never even in the batmobile at that time, total coward.I wanted to see batman die at the end but I just knew that would not happen.he should have been wanted for murder at the end instead of being treated like a damn hero, horrible screenwriting.I could go on and on but thats enough for now.In short, Tim Burton should NEVER have been allowed near a batman franchise.he made that movie more like a James Bond Flick than anything else, hardly a batman film at all. mad Thats why I am glad to see that they are restarting the batman franchise all over again because just ONE good batman flick would make up for that nightmare franchise that Burton got started. The new batman film looks promising and they seem to be pressing all the right buttons this time thankfully. For one, they did a good casting job this time casting Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, not only is he a good actor, but unlike Keaton he physically fits the role of Bruce wayne as well.

Drifter101
Keaton was a bad Bruce Wayne yet not a bad Batman, He some how pulled off w/ that mysterious figure i believe yet i do agree w/ you on him as Bruce Wayne, but not on the batman part, on the movie, i believe it was great, he was a vigilante in that film, just as he will be even more in the new one, and that is what batman was and what he stood for, i hate the last films, they some how brought batman back to the level of that 60's show (which was horrible) the animated film was better than the last two. but i do think batman was given that old vigilante character in the first one.
