The two metal suits goin' at it. Who wins?

Iron Man has better armor and know the strengths and weaknesses of the War Machine armor (he did build it after all). He should win 7 or 8/10

Agreed.

I'd say they're about even. War Machine has kept the upkeep of his suit over the years, but Stark would still win 6/10 because he's a better combatant.

Iron Man suit is considerably more advanced and better financed. I doubt War Machine's chances. 9/10 to Iron Man - War Machine can win by random chances.

But War Machine has more firepower, does it not?

Without a doubt IronMan should win .....some of the upgrades he has on his suit are beyond cutting edge. However this is an interesting question.
The full extent of the WarMachine armor has been explored by Marvel, but never to the level that the IronMan armor has been delved into (for obvious reasons since Stark/IronMan is a leading character in Marvel while Rhodes/WarMachine is in many ways more of a 'supporting role').

However the interesting thing is this .....all things being equal, is the standard IM armor better than the standard WM armor?
As in, pretend that there was a military procurement going on, in which case the US military (real life) had to chose between the 2 armors.
Just the 2 armors .....they know nothing of Tony Stark or John Rhodes, and they do not even read Marvel (although we are assuming that somehow the 2 armors exist in real life ....lol,work with me for a while).

Which would they chose?

honestly I think that they would opt for the WM armor.
After all, Tony Stark designed it to be a HEAVIER-ARMED version of the IM armor that was to be used for full-scale war.
The WM armor was actually designed to be a purely offensive weapon, and more offensive than the IM armor.

However I'm certain that someone will say that the IM armor has been upgraded like crazy, and that one shouldn't compare the WM armor with the older IM armors.
And I would have to agree, since recent IM armors are quite interesting.

The thing is that the WM armor has also been seriously upgraded.
Once with Alien (as in extra-terrestrial) symbiotic armor.
(In the house of M thing it is derived from Sentinel tech)

Anyways, the answer to this thread is simple (I think): IronMan would win. Because of:
a) Tony Stark
b) It is the IM armor.

However I think that the War Machine armor doesn't get the credit it deserves. And with all things being equal (i.e if Marvel decided to have an IM vs WM issue that relied 100% on what the suits were written as able to do, and doing away with popularity or totem-pole ranking) it might surprise some on who would win.
In such a case WM might have a very good chance.

Anyways, Stark wins ......but Rhodes and his suit never had a fair chance to begin with.

p.s: A crude analogy (in DC) would be to have WonderWoman or Captain Marvel or Superboy getting all the spotlight, while Superman is a supporting character. As in Superman is supposed to be more capable, but in this example let's say he is always written as perpetually being in the shadows.

The reason I think the newer Iron Man armor would out class the older War Machine armor is in the Iron Man respect thread. There is a fight between the Sentient Armor and Tony wearing his older modular armor. Tony states that the older armor doesn't stand a chance against the new model (he was dispirit at the time which is why he used it at all) and this proves try as the Sentient Armor basically rips teh modular armor off of Tony.

That was a nice story arc, great graphics and so forth. The fight lasted like 4 panels or so, right?

using his NEW armor, stark would win against the classic war machine. if it was the more powerful armor, TONY would have been the one wearing it!

i wonder how the new IM would do against the war-wear rhodes had for a time? seems he would have beaten tony during that whole 'crossing' fiasco, but for his morals. the war-wear was the sh!t!!

Current post-extremis ironman can just control WM's armor with relative ease considering it's also his tech.
