Interviews with SLJ & Chris Lee

Jedi Priestess
I was gonna type this out myself but Luukeskywalker at TFN saved me the trouble.

If you go to the OS tonight and check out the hyperspace supplimental section, there is a feature they have on Chris Lee and Sam Jackon. They both have interviews featuring in full in the actual print version of the magazine.

But they provide audio sound bytes from the interviews tonight.

Sam's as usual is the most interesting.

In it he confirms that that there is a large window on the set where he fights and that once the window breaks and the wind starts going its getts pretty awesome and atmospheric.

He also pretty much confirms that his fight scene is where Anakin becomes Vader. He briefly talks about Hayden's acting during the moment when he turns and makes the "choice" and the look on his face.

He also mentioned that there is a scene in the jedi council (probably earlier in the film) where Anakin storms in and declares to the council "I am more powerful than any of you!"...at which point Mace gives him the "SIT DOWN" look!

DarthVader
Thx JP

Jedi Priestess
Welcome smile

Arsenal
Sounds cool

Jedi Priestess
It should also be noted that Chris Lee had nothing but good to say about Haydens performance. yes

Arsenal
You think he would have the balls to say differently?

Xam
thanks JP luv ya!

BAILY
Thanks JP, appreciate you posting the new info wink wink

Xam
I have to agree...i really do appreciate what you have done for me and the rest of the peeps around here...you are the BEST JP! smile

Arsenal
What Sam says is interesting. Anakin comes in, says, basically, "I'm more powerful than any of you," and Mace tells him to sit down. Mace then continues to stare at Anakin, unblinking, while sits and Anakin looks down. Mace begins speaking to Obi-Wan, but doesn't look away from Anakin, and is still looking at Anakin when Anakin looks back up at Mace.

This could very well be that snippet we saw in the webdoc, which showed Anakin looking down, followed by Obi-Wan looking towards what appeared to be Anakin, shaking his head in disapproval.

dmndleader
YEAH!!! He already chopped one of his arms off in AOTC. cool

queeq
Hehehehehe.

Sadako of Girth
This new info on the council scene sounds like more emotional fuel to be put on the fire for when they (Mace and Anakin) 'have-it-out' in Palps' office... More resentment at being quelled/dismissed so readily by the wisened, bald Jedi Master...

BTW... Possible hidden subtext in SW...
Baldness=Power... Yoda, Mace, Vader(Post Mustafar Duel), Lando's Second-in-command with the head gear in ESB.... R2 and C-3po...
And then you have Clone troopers-Full heads of hair and get wiped out in their hundreds over the saga as do the Jedi (Most of which are noted long-haired-braid-havers...) stick out tongue J/K

*Back now from tangent*

Does Christopher Lee actually comment on any scenes from the movie,
or is it literally just on Hayden C's acting....?

Jedi Priestess
Honestly I dont remember, my bad. I was just shocked he said that about Hayden so thats what stuck.

queeq
Shocked? Really?

Jedi Priestess
Yes, he's generally not a fan of younger actor's abilities. Didnt you know that?

queeq
Well, he's not too great. In SW that is. From what I've seen so far.

Jedi Priestess
Who?

queeq
*cough* Hayden *cough*

Jedi Priestess
nono you are going to be choking on that cough!

Stunrun
thats good smile i know he can pull it off this timeyes i never doubted his acting, although a little wooden in places but this movie is his chance for stardom, c'mon Hayden u can do it!

and if this is coming from Christopher Lee, he must of improvedyes

Sadako of Girth
*Hands Queeq some Benelin* big grin

Hindsight always seems to improve things like reviewing an earlier work
and being able to see the flaws in it, ready to improve next time...
And he had almost 3 yrs to refine his stuff...
And besides, wasn't GL quoted as saying recently something like:
"Poor Hayden...People should've had a problem with his character, not the acting as he did it well...." ?
(Or something to that effect)

queeq
Ooooh... is that a promise? Jumpy

The total Interviews with Samuel L. Jackson & Christopher Lee...that is

"Hear the Force"

This issue of Star Wars Insider features exclusive interviews with actors playing some of the most powerful Jedi warriors in the saga. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Mace Windu, Jedi Master; Christopher Lee plays Count Dooku, the fallen Jedi. While you can read their words on the pages of the magazine, this online supplement is the only place to hear select fragments from their interviews, including excerpts that did not appear in print.

Samuel L. Jackson: Straight from the Hip
Throughout the course of the Star Wars saga, it's hard to make a case that there's been a more recognizable star than Samuel L. Jackson. Check that -- it's hard to find a star of his magnitude, period. And no, we're not taking anything away from such actors as Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor or even the late greats, Sir Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing. Jackson really is in a league of his own, and simply put, the man has all but conquered the silver screen to become one of the hardest-working actors in the world today.
During his career, which is now well into its fourth decade, Jackson's film resume is nothing short of extraordinary, and it's really the stuff of Hollywood legend. Since Attack of the Clones, Jackson has starred or appeared in such films as xXx, S.W.A.T., and Kill Bill, Vol. 2. He's even lent his unmistakable voice to the superhero Frozone in The Incredibles and the crooked cop Frank Tenpenny in the high-profile video game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Jackson took time to discuss the challenges of lightsaber action, acting against nothing, and working with the Chosen One.

You've talked before about Mace Windu's death scene. How did you think it turned out?

What do you think the audience will feel about your big action scene in Episode III?

In Episode II, you went up against a gun-wielding foe, now you're going lightsaber-to-lightsaber. Any tips on Jedi combat?

How do you handle imaginary or non-existence opponents or situations when making these films?

What is it like being on the Jedi Council?

How do you think Hayden Christensen is facing the challenge of becoming Darth Vader?

Could you describe your working relationship with Hayden?

Christopher Lee: The Journey of Count Dooku
He is the actor of a thousand faces, and his illustrious career is well into its eighth decade. He has worked with some of the world's most well-known actors, and he has shared the stage with hundreds more. He may have gone to-to-toe with Errol Flynn, but he will be most remembered for his epic confrontation with Yoda. He perfected the art of playing a villain, yet his demeaner is anything but villainous. He is, by all accounts, a gentleman's gentleman.
Christopher Lee will go down in cinematic history as one of the most prolific actors that has ever lived. However, now is not the time to wax philosophical about the man who breathed life into Count Dracula, but rather to delve into the mind of the man who portrays Count Dooku...

Can you offer any words of advice for new actors just getting started? Is there any advice you offered to Hayden?

Is there a lighter side to Dooku? Is there any humor to his character?

Can you comment on the scope and richness of the Star Wars story?

Having worked in the industry for as long as you have, and now being involved with some of the most cutting edge movies being made, can you comment on the ever-changing face of filmmaking?

dmndleader
It was hard to pay attention to Christopher Lee, he seemed to keep babbling.

MochaChica
Here's what is said in the article:

Lucas believes Christensen took an unfair hit from critics and fans merely for carrying out what was in the script. "Poor Hayden," he says. "His performance was great. They just don't like the character."

MochaChica
Also...can we get some answers to the damn interview!?

MochaChica
There are files up for download at the AAHA forum: Revenge of the Sith Spoilers. I immediately listened to the answer Mr. Lee gave about Mr. Christensen and I must say the opposite. You didn't hear him right.

"I said but your a good enough actor and you care enough to love to play other roles. Awful lot of actors are not prepared to learn, you know. They think oh no I'm alright..."

And than he goes on with a little rant about young guys who don't care, but he obviously is not talking about Hayden when you hear the sound bit, or rather read it in the coming weeks.

BAILY
