What an amazing tournament we have on our hands! Thank you all for the great turnout you fans gave me in voting for the winner of each fight in Round 1. Only 16 Marvel/DC fighters remain after the 1st day of the Marvel/DC Martial Arts Tournament. Before I present to you the remaining fighters and their matches for Round 2, please take time to read the following tournament rules if you have not already done so or to reaccquaint yourself with them:

Tournament Rules (***PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHEN CONSIDERING THE WINNER OF EACH FIGHT):
1. Fighters will battle using hand-to-hand combat ONLY.
2. Fighters are NOT allowed to use ANY artificial means of improving his/her chances of winning a fight. This includes mutant powers (energy blasts, telepathy/telekinesis, intangibilty, healing, etc.), weapons and any items capable of augmenting strength, speed, fighting ability, etc.
3. Any fights that may call for an exception to Rule #2 will be decided by myself and fully explained in the post for that fight.
4. Fighters will battle in their default costumes, thus they will not have any more armor than they regularly do.
5. The fights will take place on a raised rectangular platform that is a little less than the size of a regulation basketball court, so the fighters will have more than enough room to fight.
6. A fighter can win in 1 of 2 ways: (1) Battle until the opponent says, "I give up" (2) Knock the opponent off the platform
7. Always keep Rules 1 and 2 in mind. The tournament's purpose is to determine the character who fights best when given nothing else.
8. VOTE in the polls! The only way your favorite fighter can advance is if you vote for him/her. If you only comment, but don't vote, the poll cannot tell the difference. Also, the polls will allow MULTIPLE selections, so only vote for who you think is the winner of each PAIRED fight. I will finalize the results for each round after about a day from the first posts for each round.

Oh my god...I thought these votes would be closer too. I guess, it IS early so far, so who knows.

By this is, far and away, the more interesting bracket. Some really, really GREAT fights here. Dream matches. I'd pay A LOT of money to buy comic versions of any of these fights (except BC vs. KK).

Looks like Azarel is going to survive Conner and get to the next round, just in time for a swift and brutal mauling at the hands of Batgirl...

this really should have been seeded better to allow batman into the final 4.
I thought it would have been:
batman/katatekid/shiva and then:
nightwing OR azarel OR batgirl OR deathstroke

LOL, unfortunately you may be right. Azrael will have his hands full if he goes against Batgirl

Eleveninches, as you probably already know, the matches in the 1st round were decided by random drawing. Yes, I knew there was the possibility of 2 great fighters having to fight each other in the 1st round and thus a fighter that should've gone far was eliminated too soon. So I admit it was very unfortunate that Batman was eliminated so soon because I too believe he would've advanced far into the tournament. I would've gladly set up the matches according to seeding, but all tournaments involving seeds require recent data from the competing teams or in this case, the fighters. Because neither Marvel or DC have official win/loss records there was really no data I could use to decide the proper seed to assign to each fighter. I decided on using random drawing for 2 reasons: (1) I'm not as acquainted with the DC fighters as I am with the Marvel fighters so most likely I would've given improper seeds to the DC fighters (2) Random drawing eliminated my bias toward the Marvel characters (since I'm more knowledgable on them).

Rest assured that if I do another martial arts tournament, which I probably will eventually after this tournament is done, I will pair fighters according to their seed. The seeds will be determined from the fighters' previous tournament rankings.

It's going to be like the NBA before last year, where the Western Conference Finals basically determined the Championship. That's going to be KK and Shiva.

Yeah dude. That's probably gonna be the DC fans' favorite fight in thie tournament. Although, some possible good fights are shaping up in the Marvel division.
