BigDawg73
I read the Rogue Squadron series, but since early 2000 I have had many job changes, and a couple moves and have not picked up a SW book since. I am now settling back into a rhythm and want to get back into the SW books. I have a friend who recommended I start with the I Jedi series, another told me I should read the Jedi Academy series first.

Any thoughts? confused

yerssot
don't know... but be sure you read the Thrawn trilogy!
AKA Heir of the Empire,
covers three books: Heir of the Empire, ? (forgot) and Last Commandment

BigDawg73
I will check it out indeed! When in the SW timeline does the Trilogy take place?

yerssot
10 years after the battle of Endor

Julie
Thrawn trilogy...a very good choice wink
BTW...Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command
...also if you haven't read any New Jedi Order, I recommend starting right away smile

yerssot
I knew it was DFE but I didn't knew what it was standing for anymore...

well... DON'T read Rogue planet!

Julie
Ha you didn't think Rogue Planet was any good either.....I thought it was just ok....not much happened sad

yerssot
that's the problem

Julie
I see....so was RP the worst Star Wars book you've ever read or can you think of one worse?

yerssot
hmm, think it's closely follew by Crystal Star

Julie
As a stand alone book...the crystal star was ok.....I thought it was decent, but not very "starwarsish"...I liked the part where they tried to make the story work from the twins's point of view....overall not worth a 2nd read but ok

yerssot
yeah, not terrible mind you, but it's not like Thrawn, that you can re-read...

I hope the Correlian Trilogy will be great!

Julie
I think I have the first 2 book s of that trilogy, but I don't have the 3rd one and I haven't read any of them yet......they look good though

yerssot
I don't know ... I have all three though, but when they start with things as Han's evil twin brother DJEE! How stupid is that!?

Julie
very stupid in fact.... smile

Julie
very very stupid smile

yerssot
it's a sign of having no fantasy in a story!

Julie
True....which is very bad for us poor fans of sci-fi stories sad

yerssot
problem is... we keep reading it!

Julie
eek! that's so true!.....at least with star wars books stuipid storylines are few and far between wink

yerssot
I sure hope the Correlian trilogy will rock even with that incident

Julie
I'm spoiled on the ending of that trilogy, but I think it'll be good anyway.

yerssot
well, the ending is described on the end of the book so heck, I know it too

Julie
really....put it in spoiler tags so I can see if it's the same thing I know...

yerssot
the books are upstairs and I read them two months ago, so I don't remember it from the top of my head anymore...

Julie
Actually the spoiler I'm thinking of was given in the NJO series.

LanceWindu
Actually it's his cousin who looks similar to him.

BTW I have all three of those books and I recommend everyone to read them.

yerssot
even worse, now there are three of him

LanceWindu
No, there's onl two of them.

BTW earlier you said that the Thrawn Trilogy is 10 years after Endor.

It's only 5 after Endor

yerssot
bit bad for a lucky guess big grin

Julie
not too bad......

LanceWindu
Bad enough though. wink

Julie
roll eyes (sarcastic) Point conceded
"Someday you're going to make a mistake and I just hope I'm there to see it" wink
