Hi!...I'm new in these boards and I don't know if this subject has been tackled before.... Anyway, this new Bond movie Casino Royale has made me wondering if the producers will try to eliminate the traditional opening gun barrel and title sequences as Bond will be re-introduced? If you ask me, if the story will be feature Bond as starting out and how he became a '00' agent, you must start at a new direction and go for something unique. On the other hand, this will definitely go againts tradition from previous established films. what do you guys think? smokin'

The gun barrel is notorious for the start of the Bond films. Doing away with it will be a mistake. Without it would confuse people. Btw, kewl name! The title from one of John Gardners' James Bond's books.

I thought so too. I'm hoping they would stick to the tried and tested formula. This movie is really interesting, and I can't wait to see what it looks like...Thanks for the compliment... Happy Dance

Speaking of CR, I read today that the once touted next director Quentin Tarantino's fave Bond film is, yup, CASINO ROYALE. What's the guy on? It seems he wanted to make it a parody like the original.

Think KILL BILL VOL 1 + 2 with Bondian trappings, I guess!

I hope that Tarantino understands he can't do a bond movie

and I do hope they keep the gunbarrel scene since it's part of the franchise!

Tarantino's officially out! Still, it would have been interesting to see what he would have done with The Franchise! Give David Cronenberg a chance, I say! Then we'd be talkin' reinvention for sure!!!

big grin

well, he can always make a spoof or something

If they are going back to Bond's roots, there is a possibility of eliminating the gunbarrel and title sequence at the start of the movie. It may then be seen at the end of the film, which is the trend nowadays... smokin'

well, what the writers ment with his roots is (as I understand) explain how he got so dark not that they'll place the story in the 1950s, so it's very possible to keep it all just the way it is
