Build your own "deathstar"

Given the purported purpose of the Deathstar, to "crack" hard targets like planetary shields in a short period of time, using technology from a universe of your choice, describe a functional equivalent of the Deathstar.

not something on par destructively, but using availiable tech, something that would serve the same purpose, to smash down shields, intimidate opponents, take on entire battlefleets, serve to foster rule through fear of force etc etc.

I.e. a Trekky one might be some mobile station with genesis torps and shit, I dunno.

Obviously guys like the culture and so forth need not apply.

So basically, just a "design your own megatech phallus exercise " *shrug*

Thought it might be interesting to see what people have thought up.

The Romans had a nice batterimg ram that took down the walls of Jerusalem that thing kicked ass

and there was that big gun the Nazis used in WW2 to pound citys from like great distances
