In the New Jedi Order series, Luke Skywalker discovered a new Force power that was unknown to perhaps every Force User before him. It was explained to look like "green sparks." Does anybody know anything of the Force ability, like...what it looks like, what it is, and how powerful is it, etc.?

could be a lightside version of Force Lightning.

Hmm... I've never heard of such a thing, but it might make sense if it were a light side force lightning

NJO Luke is the StarWars equivalent in MY mind of Q from StarTrek....he will never as long as EU keeps him alive stop discovering things of the force this new green spark you speak of seems like it is something he just invented thru the force to amuse himself...lol....He has already shown bigger power than a spark! What else has he done lately?...I havent been keeping up..to much work...the rest of the time spent here on KMC...lol...I wanna hear some major power type accomplishments....they need to step him up another level to become more than any user of powers in any universe has ever seen or accomplished!! If NJO Luke was like Q he'd treat everyone like his little brother and saying things like "Maybe some day they'll learn how to become one with the force and manipulate it to their will."

It could be the lightside version of Force Lightning...But if it is surly it wouldn't have taken so long to discover. Force Lightning has been around since Marka Ragnos's time, right?

The thing is, you can't really have a lightside version of Force lightning. Force lightning is used to attack and thus automatically part of the Dark side (though I suppose there could be instances when it would be used for a greater good and blah-blah-blah).

Indeed it's not a lightside version of force lightning, but you're right that it's a completely new power. He used it against a slayer, who's simply a void in the force...and instantly killed it..Imagine, instant-killing a void in the force.

It's not a lightsider power because later on, Luke recalls that he came periliously close to the dark side to save Jacen (the slayer was about to kill him).

on ROTJ luke says to his sister(forgot the name) that if he dies she would be the only hope, so can i ask why? she never learned to use the force and nothing...

The hope for the rebellion. "If I don't make it back, you're the only hope for the Alliance." so he's telling her about continuing on withe the rebellion if anything happened to him.

Leia Organa Solo is Luke's sisters name. And she never learns the Jedi ways, because while trying to build the New Republic Mon Mothma always needed her for something.

This power is very powerful if it is able to kill a void in the Force.

you guys remember that the NJO ISN'T the the same as the old jedi order. thats why luke walks into JABBA"s palace and just choke kills those to gammoreans. and from what i've read its is the lightside version of lightning. check out the NJO luke powerful? thread and its all in there.

Its something more than just Force lightning...this power kills instantly. Force lightning takes awhile, before taking its full effect.

No not really, she just uses it to sense people and things like that. She carries her lightsaber but hardly uses it.

okay firstly her Is such a thing as 'lightside' force lightening. Kit Fisto specialised in the area and--if my memory serves me well--he actually discovered its 'good side' use. secondly, leia is just as Jedi as corran horn and kam solusar. she just tends to rely on negotiations--remember that instance in dark force rising with the barabel and luke had to difuse a situation just because he was a jedi?

besides according to various reports on the dark nest trilogy, denning hopes to 'resolve leia's status as a jedi' and barnes and nobels has put up a picture of the cover for the second book: the unseen queen and leia is on the front in jedi robes with her sabre. a passage i read on the forums on starwars.com also confirms that leia takes up a role as a jedi padawan... it appears that saba sebatyne is her master, though i am not quite sure.

I thought it was Plo Koon who did Force Lightning. Hmm. Maybe I'm wrong.

plo koon never did force lightning. from what i've read those species of aliens can just shoot lightning out from their claws.

and this is stupid: it alsosays luke goes to the dark side fully.

True, but since that incident she kind of gave up her duties as a Jedi and followed the foot steps as her step father as a polotician in the New Republic...she never fully mastered the ways of the Jedi...

um as i understand it he does to do what well sidious says in ep3 you have to know the force in all aspects not just one well he basically says that not in those exact words but if you've seen it you know. but ya he went dark then bam redeemed himself effortlessly

Well without Leia, Luke would have remained on the DarK Side...Luke has a strong will that's probably why he turned back to the light easily, but he wasn't that far down the dark side was he?

On the subject of Luke and unknown force abilities, how did he become a Force Ghost in the Jedi Academy books? It's not unknown to us, but to him, I dunno if anyone ever taught him? Or did he speak to Ben Kenobi in an earlier book before Ben said he had to leave forever?

He did discover a library of lost Jedi knowledge and also had the Emperor's library...

Or maybe...I think Exar forced Luke's spirit into that position.

I was playing through KOTOR 2 again and I noticed that when the Handmaiden (Brianna) returns to Telos to fight Atris, Atris kills all the handmaidens instantly with the Force. So perhaps others knew it but it simply works on non-Force users or somesuch.
