She's only 11, and she's one of the best actresses of our generation. From I Am Sam to Uptown Girls to War of the Worlds.

What do you guys think, especially in War of the Worlds. She was AMAZING!

I wasn't impressed with her at all in "War of the Worlds", honestly. She didn't even have that many speaking lines on which to judge her, she just seemed bratty, and was relegated to an immature role that made her seem younger than she's capable of portraying. Almost..babyish.

She's getting older..I'd imagine her permanents are growing in..lol.

I think she can be an outstanding actress considering her young age.

I was blown away by her acting when I saw her in "Taken" and in everything I've seen her in since then...
The episode of 'CSI' she was in and 'I am Sam' especially.

Haven't seen War of the Worlds yet but am really looking forward to seeing it.

She really is so talented for her age, and her lil sis elle is following in her footsteps too.

I noticed her teeth at the awards too, she has braces so obviously we're not the only ones who noticed something was wrong
but she's only a kid... plenty of time to get them sorted.

I saw the movie last night and indeed she was very immature and bratty.

Alright, I looked up her resume and I will admit she was excellent in Man on Fire. When I say excellent, please keep in mind that I'm also referring to someone who is only a few years removed from tinker toys.

While I liked the movie, her performance in War of the Worlds was awful, and was a major step backwards from doing so well in Man on Fire.

And knowing Hollywood, I'm sure in a couple of years she will unfortunately be playing some 13-year old hooker who turns tricks for the high school football team. Sad.

And thats harsh! I haven't seen War of the Worlds but i think she is a great actor for being her age and all!

even though shes young and all shes a very good actress. she has come out in a lot of movies, tv shows etc. I enjoy watching her everytime.

Her performance was precisely what Spielberg wanted her to protray, and not really a fair one to gauge an entire career on. Is there such a thing as a prodigical whiny, bratty girl? Didn't think so.

I hate brats too, but only when i am stuck babysitting them! If it is in a movie then i couldn't care less about that subject...I think!

Ugh, babysitting them would drive me crazy! So I guess I'm with you in the fact that I'll take them in a movie 'cause it could be a lot worse!

I'd say see "Taken" that's where she made her first Impression on me.

Well, if she's of the same caliber as the likes of Katherine Hepburn, Jodie Foster, and Julie Andrews as everyone's seemingly making her out to be, then I expect nothing less than a performance that will command attention at next year's Oscars - regardless of the movie.

You know the Academy doesn't look at Horror flicks for Oscar worthy performances. That's like panning for gold in a septic tank.

Man. My analogies are so vivid..lol.

C'mon. I figured Hide and Seek would be a lock. I mean, DeNiro and Fanning? That's about as much of a shoo-in as Foster / Hopkins and Nicholson / MacLaine.

Alright, saw Hide and Seek last night, and while these surprise twists are getting a bit tiresome, I will give props to little Dakota Fanning for her portrayal of what seems to be a confused girl.

She did a great job for what I thought was a shallowish character considering she was the 2nd main star.

While I was watching the movie, though, I was thinking, 'at least she's not Lindsay Lohan or anything like that.' I mean, the 11 year old is doing horror movies and sci-fi adventures. Plenty of props for that.

While I liked Hide and Seek, and thought that Dakota pulled off a pretty creepy kid impersonation, I personally cannot stand kids in films. It should be made illegal. They're always irritatingly cute or just plain irritating!

She's a hell of an actor exspecialy in 'Taken' where she portrayed her character beautifully.

Well, I saw War Of The Worlds last night, and I found her to be severley irritating in it. I didn't find her performance to be up to the standard she has portrayed in previous films.

Dakota Fanning did a great performance in War of the Worlds.The expressions of pure fear on Rachel (Dakota Fannings) face are totally convincing.She is so brilliant and expressive actress for her age .Dakota is a huge talent, and this is probably her greatest performance to date.

Let's not try to confuse the word "performance" with "paycheck," shall we?

Personally, all I think she did was scream. If that had been my child, I would have given her a serious slap to try and sort her out!!!!

Yeah, they could have gone to an intriguing subplot involving Tom Cruise and his belt.

I kind of thought the whole screaming thing was meant to make it more realistic. I kind of thought that is the way many a kid with anxiety problems might act.

Still, I think she has a good future ahead of here, for a youngster she seems pretty capable with roles in many movies that definitely have a more mature feel. Like Man on Fire, War of the Worlds and so forth, which is always good, hopefully means she wont go the way of Macaulay Culkin and that kid from Star Wars (though what happened to the kid from the Sixth Sense?)

Maybe, but the whole screaming thing just reminded me of that girl from Jaws 2. The one that I really wanted the shark to eat because she was so annoying.

I think Dakota Fanning is the best! She's my favorite actress and she's definitely very talented and gifted, better than so many of the crappy actors in Hollywood nowadays (Lohan, Duff, Tara Reid *shudder*, J lo, Ben Affleck, etc etc).

Anyways, I can't wait for her new movie Dreamer to come out! She's also going to be in the Charlotte's Web movie adaptation.

Loved Uptown Girls... Dakota was great.

I sure hope those last 3 pics were from different time periods.

The first one looked like a young teenage (and more ghostly) Michelle Pfieffer impersonator.

The second one looked like one of those K-mart portraits you get for your 9-year old.

The third one looked like the picture you take after the child first goes, "Ma-ma, Dah-Dah"

i think she played in the movie called Daddy's Day Care, starring Eddie Murphy..

She's not overrated! She is one of the only actresses whom i think deserves the attention! She's so talented. She has her emotions together and her acting abilities are uncanny. Look at her first movie, i am sam, she was only 7 but she was able to convey so much emotion and truth.
