Sidious acts insane in fights. Why?

Emperor Revan
Stupid thread, I know but I used to like Palpatine a lot for his cool, calm, and collected manner but in ROTS when he's fighting he acts crazy, holding his mouth open, and generally not like him. Anyone else think they really messed that up?

Fishy
It is, but he hasn't fought a lot in is life, something like that is going to be new. He probably just enjoys it a lot..

Darth_Rankkor
I think that's an expression of anger as he fights mace or yoda. I don't think is messed up.

((The_Anomaly))
no no, he is pure evil, pure pure evil.

he laughs because he enjoys fighting immensly. thats all

oh and he would have fought a lot (training maul and dooku) but not usually does he get to kill people.

so his evilness was over the top, he was enjoying it. even after yoda almost knocked him off his pod, he was laughing, its a game, a fun fun game. as smart as he is, his anger takes control in those situations and he in essence, looses his mind..

I don't think he loses his mind. And plus I think he uses his anger as an aid instead of letting anger consume him. But yes, I agree that he laughs because he's thrilled by that unique chance of revenge.

Remeber when he jumps to mace and the other 3 jedi, that sound he makes reminds me of force scream from Kotor 2. Is it possible that he used this?

I think that's just a "battle scream" or something. Like if you charge 3 guys you just have to scream yer lungs out haha

MAKASHIMAN
Sisious is like the satan for Star Wars.

MAKASHIMAN
He is gonna be the embodiement for evil like maul but the way he held his saber up to his chest................

Darth Somebody
Sidious is CA-RAY-ZEY. Notice that this pronunciation is NOT the correct form of the word "Crazy".

dAngEr_Is_gO!
In the two fights we see him in, he is in two different states IMO. When he fights Mace he grits his teeth and almost spits venom at him in pure hatred and aggression. When he fights Yoda he seems to be more enjoying it, despite the fact Yoda schools him for a lot of the duel. Maybe he has been waiting to take a crack at Yoda for a long time and for him it is the realisation of a dream.

xxxpoppunker182
um siduous never trained dooku in lightsaber fighting.dooku mastered form 2 on his own.

Dooku mastered Makashi independantly, Sidious never trained him.

No, sidious did train dooku in using the sith arts.

Not that much as you think. He was very independant.

In dark rendevous dooku says this himself about how sidious trained him in sith arts and about how he suffered every time his master granted him new knowledge.

What is your point? He wasnt trained by sidious? Your wrong... He was independent? Yeah sure but he still got his sith arts from sidious, where else would he learn lightning?

Where did the first Jedi learn lightning from?

InsaneNoodlyGuy
The first sith you mean? considering the rage required to pull it off, I doubt it was a principly Jedi art. And it's never really said what ancient sith used it.

Actually, no. The Jedi used it before the Sith and it doesn't require that much "Rage".

You can learn it on your own. I know that for a fact.

InsaneNoodlyGuy
And when preytell did the jedi use it? And if it requires little to no rage, why don't they use it still? And for tha tmatter, where did you come to know these things for a "Fact?" I'm sure any force adept could learn any force talent with sufficent time and experimenttation, but your still throwing stuff out here with nothing to back it up.

Ah christ, i have to explain this again....?

George Lucas says on ET that the Jedi were the first ones to use Force Lightning. Hell, Yoda can even use it. The problem is, they see it as an aggressive force power so they do not allow it.

And thank you for backing up the roots of my point.

The Jedi were way before the Sith and they discovered it.

InsaneNoodlyGuy
Your using a drawing *admittedly a damn good one* to argue your point?

I do not know of this ET interview and thus cannot comment either way. I would ask however why a power would be forbidden if it didn't lead to the dark side. Agression ususually requires a certain amount of killing intent, a dark desire.

Fine, I correct my previous statement, though I maintain it's likely the first Jedi to develop force lighting quickly became a dark jedi.

The Jedi don't often believe in Offensive usage, so they do not use an offensive Force Power. Just like they don't use the Lightsaber color of Red because it represents passion. Not everything has to aggressive or intent apon killing.

InsaneNoodlyGuy
your pumping somebody full of lethal electrical voltage. Is there any way that isn't with intent of killing? And how do we know Red respresents passion in the star wars universe?

PVS
its called "symbolism" green and blue are cool colors, red is hot. this reflects the mentallity. nothing technical, just symbolic and cinematic.

Back on-topic:

Personally I thought that Palpatine's rage and ferocity as he cut down those three and battled Mace was great. He hates the Jedi and for decades he's had to 'play nice' with them. Now, at last, he can give full reign to his hate. That was one of my favourite moments in the movie.

Darth_Janus
Makes sense. And it's not like we should understand Palpatine's reactions when he finally reveals himself... He's been playing both sides of the fence and sitting on those Sith powers of his for quite some time. Imagine flirting with your dream girl and finally getting a chance at taking her home after years. Trust me, you'd make faces like that too.

You're the dork, son.

Come back when you realize that the whill didn't create Force Lightning, you DORK! Hell, the whill didn't even create themselves because THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A WHILL!

Darth_Janus
I'm gonna laugh my ass off if whill is like Norweigian for Sith lord.
