Which moment in any anime did you think was the biggest tear-jerker? I know I know, it's impossibly hard, but at least give a few. One of them is definitely chouji's "death" in Naruto's Sasuke Retrieval arc. And also when Renji loses to Ichigo in Bleach, then pleads to Ichigo for him to save Rukia.

I have to agree about the Chouji moment. I was about a foot from the screen whispering "Don't die Chouji! Don't Die!" It kind of escalated to me shouting a the t.v.

Another was the moment when Itachi killed the entire Uchiha Clan, and made Sasuke see it over and over. I felt so bad for Sasuke right then.

I'm trying to think of another one, but I can't.

QuincE
Yeah, that whole scene with the death of Uchiha was emotionally powerful. Especially when Sasuke ran away screaming "don't kill me!"

Naruto's flashbacks during his clash with sasuke were upsetting too. As was Gaara's background.....What a sad show.

But if you REALLY want to get tear-jerking, it's Fullmetal Alchemist. I practically bawl every damn episode.

ShinobiRikari
The first episode of Naruto when he fails the test. There was no one there for him, and everyone was staring at him. That and the part when he was told what was sealed inside of him. I practically cried through that entire DVD.

Fruits Basket, admist all of the humor, there was one part when they were talking about the Cat. It was quite upsetting how they described the curse of the Cat to be rejected by the rest of the zodiac.

Friend wants me to put this up: When the Hokage died, and Konohomaru was shown.

Would you believe that I've never seen FA? I've been meaning to, but I haven't.

Takiko_4ever
I didn't really feel like crying at ay of those scenes from Naruto... it was sad but not not worth crying...
don't say I have no compassion cuz I cry over some stupid scenes in mangas but I hate to admit that i laughed when Sasuke ran away crying "don't kill me"
But hten again it's probably because I favor Itachi and thought he was soo cool!

QuincE
eh Itachi...that bastard.

FullMetalLover1
in samurai champloo episode risky rasket, when Fuu's "boyfriend" gets killed, and when maes hughes died in fma

sailormoon
Definitely FMA. Especially Hughes. And with Nina! That was the first time I've seen anyone that young killed in anime before! And yes, that first episode of Naruto was so sad!!! When Nicolas Wolfwood died in Vash the Stampede too! That was so unexpected! I think one of the biggest was Spike at the end of Cowboy Bebop! S-cry-ed, the majority of the cast died!!!! If I think of more I'll post them.

Gregory
Grave of the Fireflies. The whole thing, really.

and when i thought sasuke died

BunnyCupCakes
Since some of u guys mentioned most of them,I have 2 say the last OVA of Samurai X:Reflection. When Kenshin & Kaoru ran 2 eachother at the end & Kenshin didn't respond(if u know what i mean).....I just cried. I felt bad for Kaoru too....the WHOLE damn OVA series was sad itself.

I also gotta say Wolf's Rain, when it gets toward the end & it sux they all died but the saddest death for me was the one when Toboe dies in that old man's arm while he was dying too.....& on the last epi that Kiba was dying......oooo...I cried

Bardiel13
I can't believe none of you guys put in Chrno Crusade! The fact that it was cruelly ironic and that nothing was accomplished in the end just amde it sadder. It ruined the whole series for me.

I'm sorry. If it helps, I don't believe it's certain that Spike did die. And yeah, Grave of the Fireflies was sad the whole movie, and that episode of Samurai Champloo with Fuu and that boy...

FullMetalLover1

powerfulone1987
Let me set the scene for you all:

There I was just getting into FullMetalAlchemist. Laying in bed in my college Dorm (can't remember if roommate was in there or not) and I'm Crying. Nina has just been killed. It was like my 1st or 2nd episode ever of FullMetalAlchemist and it definitely pulled me in. I was still crying when it was over. Oh my god, I couldn't believe what had happened. I was nervous that all of the episodes would be that powerfully sad.

I'll never consider that abomination of a Chimera to be Nina that her abomination of a father, who is also a Chimera, created.

I'll never forget this episode.

Is It Comprehensible.....

NBT x 20
Elfen lied when she was lucked in the cellar and was dieing. Naruto's background he was so lonely!! Chouji was near death. When jin and mugen were about to die. When itachi kill the uchiha clan. When neji was fighting hinita!

sailormoon
Yeah, I think that was either my first or one of them, yeah...I just couldn't believe a show killed someone so young, I've never seen it before! And I was like...Wow...this show is serious...very unique, FMA does things other animes just can't or couldn't do. That's why it's so special!

Lovely Murder
i know i love FMA! but i cant watch it anymore or im dead...

Whiteclipse
the end of X(the series) what a sacrafice, the end of cowboy bebop, poor spike....

Lovely Murder
i only saw the X/1999 movie, and everybody but kamui dies... i loved it!

sailormoon
What is X?

Takiko_4ever
The story takes place in 1999, the Year of Destiny, and the beginning of the end of the world. The future of the universe rests on one young man, Kamui Shiro, who must destroy either the Dragons of Earth or the Dragons of Heaven - two opposing armies. He alone must decide whether humanity should be destroyed to create a purified universe, or whether it should be protected to preserve civilization. Two oracles, the sisters Hinoto and Kanoe foresee the coming of the Dragons and predict opposite outcomes. Each sister gathers strength and ammunition to insure her own vision for the future. However, neither sister realizes that there is one man who has an even greater power than the Dragons, and that ultimately he will determine the fate of the earth. Which sister will prevail and how does Kamui fit into their struggle? The answer to this question will forever affect humanity.

What was a real tear jerker was in the FMA manga. When Hughes dies in book 4, his daughter is standing next to his wife at the funeral asking, "Why do they have to bury papa?" and saying, "If they do that, papa won't be able to go to work anymore." That innocence alone makes it so sad of a moment.

And Nina in book 2. It wasn't as tear-jerking as in the anime, but it still made me very sad.

FullMetalLover1
yeah that was very sad

elemental_user
i found it sad in naruto when sakura tried to stop sasuke from going and all he did was say thankyou and knocked her out. rude much??? and i agree with NBT x 20, it was sad at the chouji bit.

Chakra_demon
Zabuza's death (from naruto) was the most moving death in anime

loner hill
When I was a child i found Vegeta's suicide very moving (majin boo fight)

Also when Shinji saves Rei by opening the entry plug,

when they were talking about the history of the orange cat in Fruits Basket

loner hill

Whiteclipse
in bleach when ichigo gets beat by rukia's brother and she goes back to soul society, and tells him she'll never forgive him if he follows and it looks like he's gonna die

Impediment
Grave of the Fireflies. Pretty much the enitre movie.

Clone
>_< when they were talking about the story about that cat in fruits basket!

sailormoon
I'm with you Clone and Impediment...

NBT
Hack//Legend Of The Twilight episode 9. When Rena was running after Shugo and there screaming each others name and crying.

sailormoon
Yeah that was moving...

NBT
Yep.

Celestialgirl
I would have to say Nuriko'd death scene & Tamahome's family.
So far what I've watched of FullMetal Alchemist is really sad...
Chidori's death in Ceres-Yuhi kinda ruined the moment with his wailing.
Hotohori's & Chiriko's death.

Templares
Tsunade stating frankly and right in Rock Lee's face that he would never be a ninja again with the injuries he sustained. So cruel.

Tallis
I liked when Kuwabar sacrificed himself in Yu Yu Hakusho. And when Yusuke died against sensui. Of coarse everyone al ready mentioned the most tear-jerker of them all when Nina dies. That caught me totally off guard. I was like "holy shit".

And I liked in DBZ after gohan and vegeta died, the responses to their death from characters like Botan and Videl.

Broly92
gohan never actually died then but I think the YYh ones you metioned are good

Riikokun
omg, fushigi yuugi is sad too, when most of the celestial warriors die, like nuriko and hotohori, i balled my eyes out!! i thot that kakashi and sasuke died 2!!!!!was sooooo sad...
sad happy im glad they didnt!!!

Don't tell me you guys have never seen Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (to be released in US as Rumbling Hearts). Now that one's a tear jerker the whole freaking show. Granted I didn't cry but something must have been wrong with my tear ducts.

TokyoSunrise
you know, I'm utterly surprised no one wrote some real anime tear-jerkers. You know like Air, Kanon, Clannad. And there's this one anime, completed heart wrenching I almost couldn't finsih it. And an amazing thing about all of these is that they were written by the same person. KEY is extremely talented, you should check out all of her work.

Blax_Hydralisk
I've only watched four animes seriously. Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Naruto, and Bleach. Was too young to understand and care much for Sailor Moon... only sad part of Pokemon is when Ash loses in the Indigo Plateau fight to Richie.

There's nothing in Bleach that s made me sad.

Naruto has a few gut wrenchers. I almost cried when Zabuza fell over and died next to Haku. It was sad when Naruto was told the truth about his past. The current wrencher for me is when Naruto finds about J-Man's death and he has flashbacks about it. though that hasn't happened yet in the show.
