What would be an acceptable Death for Luke? He is the center of the saga, and the most powerful Jedi in history. How could an EU author have him killed without making his death seem:
a. pointless like pellaeon,

b. stupid like Lumiya (talk about anti-climatic)

c. ridiculous like Caedus (how many holes did he have in him at the end? and jaina wasn't his equal, lol, and gideon before you get on me for PIS hypocrisy again, i'd like to start with: they were NOT on equal footing)

d. as a by-product of ANOTHER plot line like the world brain?
(did anyone else think it odd how one second, this world brain is this all important factor, the next its gone, and no one cares, and it doesnt' affect the story one iota?

How could they do it? IMO, Ghanner Rhysode recieved one of the greatest deaths in all of Star Wars history. That man WAS a hero, against impossible odds, killing troops coming at him, i believe the book says "one at a time, then in pairs, then in squads, then in regiments" (that was from memory, don't quote me)

Then, he accomplished his mission with his death, and by letting Jacen get to talk to the world brain, he may have won the war against the Vong.
Nothing pointless about that death.

They should give Skywalker nothing less. What do you think?

Gideon
Die in his sleep. Quietly.

truejedi
lot of vision there stick out tongue That's be an interesting series of books... naw, i'm j/p, do you really think it should be like that?

Enyalus
I think Darth Bane should be resurrected and he should throw a moon at Luke - Luke dying that way. Similar to Chewy.

well, i bet luke would prefer that option over enyalus's christmas critters idea... but ya know.

Darth Sexy
Well lets see. What other way will George Lucas allow his greatest hero to die, than either in his sleep, or sacrificing himself and destroying half of the galaxy with the force?

BOOG
how old is he at the last time they wrote about him,he should go out fighting an Honorable thing for a warrior rite.......unless hes to old to walk

truejedi
According to the novel list included with LOTF, luke would be 60. Not nearly old enough to die of old age, since powerful jedi are supposed to be able to extend their lives.

Tangible God
I'm thinking an Indiana Jones 4 moment. Luke gains such an understanding of the Force that he dissolves and becomes one with it.

BOOG
im not sure what LOTF means but how old can they live up to....whats there prime can he still fight effectively

xxxpoppunker182
life expectancy is like 120ish or somethin like that.

truejedi
the Legacy of the Force book series, supposedly takes place 40 years after A New Hope.(i had already typed in ANH, and changed it, so i'm trying! lol)

just depends on the person i guess, but 60 seems pretty young, i mean, Kyle is a lot older than Luke isn't he? and he still seems to be at least decently on top of it. And Durron wouldn't be young anymore either, would he? and that would make fett around 72 if he was 10 in attack of the clones.... okay, fett 72? that makes most of the LOTF Boba Fett worshipping drivel pretty stupid. I didn't start putting ages on these people till just now, they ARE ALL GETTING OLD!

i thought luke should fall in battle, i just have no idea what cause would be great enough to make a fan feel like his death was necessary and worth it.

BOOG
is that for just humans ,,arnt all races different, wasnt yoda like crazy old

truejedi
Yoda was over 900 years old when he died, yeah, PART of that attributed to how strong he was in the force, most to his species.

BOOG
maybe him saving his son somehow would be a good ending rite. like father like son, or go out like obi so he can guide his kid and still run the jedi stuff

BOOG
wtf 900 was he old when he fought sidious

BOOG
i ment how old was he when he fought sidious

Tangible God
877.

truejedi
well, it was 20 years before... so honestly i'm not sure the exact year... someplace 890-900 i'm thinking?

Tangible God
900 by ROTJ - 23 years = 877.

truejedi
k, yeah, i wasn't contradicting you, just was typing my answer before you posted.

BOOG
o so he was old and still getting into fights yoda is a bad mutha****a

Lord Knightfa11
luke dies when:

George Lucas's inner artist wakes up, finds out what the rest of him has done, and forces him to commit seppuku. then the entire universe dies.

truejedi
thats... depressing.

truejedi
i guess this thread had already been done...

worth reading that link though, interesting the views from that many years back.

Darth_Glentract
Breast cancer....

He probably shouldn't die in battle. I mean, the guy has been in more fights than basically everyone else in the series put together. Give the man a break lol.

Gideon
The closest I've come to death (literally) is an incident involving liquor and Faunus's insatiable mom.

Perhaps Luke could go out in a similar fashion.

Jedireaper
Ummm... Luke should go out as a celebrated hero of the galaxy, defending the Repubic/Confederacy/Galactic Alliance from the gretest threat to the galaxy has EVER seen, himself.

Rampant ox
He should retire back to Tatooine as an old man, ready to live out the rest of his days in peace.

Then get killed by Tusken Raiders.

Tangible God
It should come full circle. He's killed by stormtroopers when they raid his Old Age home searching for the droids Ben Kenobi never let them find.

Darth_Glentract
I'm still thinking breast cancer would be the warriors death he deserves.

MasterAshenVor
Actually im up for three types of Death...

Number One : He gets killed in a Academy Training session by his son and the books follow Ben Skywalker through that troubling time..

Number Two - He gets Assassinated by a Rogue Jedi after chasing him down...of course he would be killed in a cowards fashion..like Mara was.

Number Three - He becomes so powerful in the force..that he just becomes one with the force without dieing. with him saying something to Ben like.... Do not fear my son...you are strong with the force and can take care of yourself now and you must take over the leadership of the Jedi Academy..... i cannot help you any longer..so now i must go... for i shall nowbecome one with the force...*Disappears*

Tangible God
Your #3's the most likely, and appropriate. Horrendously cheesy, but hey that's poor writing for you.

truejedi
he could also say something along the lines of "i didn't really help you before anyway, because of fear of falling to the darkside, so it won't really be that much different without me, goodbye!"
