Shikamaru vs L from deathnote

In a game of Shougi or Chess, who wins?

L is much smarter but we've never actually seen him play any of those but I think he'd be good at them because he's smarter. So I'll go with L.

L is borderline clairvoyant, shikamaru is great but my money is on Lawliet. shikamaru analyzes situations when he needs/wants to, L analyzes everything in the finest detail. his brain is like a high performance engine , that's why he constantly eats high caloric foods.

i bet L would analyze shikamaru's appearance and voice patterns allowing him to predict every strategy shikamaru knows.

L, his genius is literally unbelievable when it comes to analyzing, his analyzations really do border on clairvoyance.

Shikamaru. He thinks over 200 steps ahead and for multiple situations in seconds. His IQ is over 200 and that was pretimeskip. Shikamaru jizzed on L in a game of Shougi

Shikamaru wouldn't beat L in an intellectual battle.

Shikamaru is an incredibly keen analyzer, L's analyzations are nearly supernatural in brilliance.

I'll go with Shikamaru just because its a game he knows well.

Well Shikamaru hasn't really had a battle of wits against anyone rather intelligent, L was going toe to toe with Light who is a genius himself, and L was outsmarting him at times, Light had to use a cheap way to win

I seem to recall him losing a game of Shougi to his dad.

If Shikamaru was in L's place. He would of figured out who was Kira within the first two chapters. Shikamaru has a IQ of over 200. probably around 150. at best. He can figure out over 200 steps of a battle plan in seconds. L has nothing on Shikmaru intellect

L already knew that light was "kira", he just needed evidence on how he was committing the crimes. and take into account he didn't know about the supernatural element.

And Shikamaru has nothing on L when it comes to detective skills anyway.

L figured out Light was the most likely candidate to be Kira quickly, but could not get the evidence, had no idea of the supernatural things involved, and yet still came close to catching Light, who only won through a single ace in the hole, Ren.

Shikamaru wouldn't have been able to find out anything as quickly as L did. Shikamaru analyzes what his opponent will do by figuring out stuff about them. Which would be totally useless against somebody you are up against blind.

People who think that having a high IQ makes you smart automatically need there heads checked.

So the ability to figure out things quickly and analyze ande come to conlusions isnt smart. Thats the only smarts there is. Everything is just knowlegeble.

That's not IQ. That's: "the ability to figure out things quickly and analyze ande come to conlusions".

My point is that using a high IQ as a point in an argument is fallacious and wrong.

If Shikamaru was so much smarter than L, then he shouldn't have had any problems finding out who Pein is.

His best feat is his victory over Hidan, and he had a week of prep, knew his abilities first-hand, and if I recall right was given some advice from Asuma as well.

IQ? Lol.

There is not a person alive who could have done what L did.

He knew NOTHING about Kira, and yet in his very first move, he pin-pointed the region he lived in, as in the district of the country, and then he broke it down to possible suspects, and correctly labeled Light as the most possible candidate, and in an ingenious move revealed himself to him, which as even Light put it, backed Light into a corner.

Shikamaru has nothing on the superhuman-esque analytical abilities of L.

Ok Ok guys enough ^^D aha...lol this is such an interesting topic, I thought about it sometime before and was like...hmmm, maybe I should show that thought somewhere... thank you whoever started this ^^D aaanyywaay guys ^^P Shikimaru and L.......hmmmmm weellll,

that is a toughie ^^D well, they ARE both epicly smart....although I think that shikimaru being in a universe filled with supernatural people with supernatural abilities kind of gives the edge over just being supernaturally smart ^^D ...if you catch what I'm saying... :P probs not but... ;P

Well anyway...Honestly everyone is talking about how L figured out that Light whas Kira...honestly guys...I could have figured that out :L seriously guys...news about some random deaths of criminals...then

Kira...telling the world that he is the source to the deaths for the reason of riding the world of criminals...then a detective's son's girlfreind is killed by kira...and suddenly he want's to join the only person that can stop Kira......seriously guys...the way that he carried himself into L's room pretty much gave it away :P

Well anywayy ^^D L as a ninja...now wouldn't that be sweet ^^D although....L's brain consuming calories (come on...that's awesome) would still be a little like Chouji eating himself to oblivion for the sake of strength...and Chouji is a pretty small character opposed to some one like... Killer Bee :P see what I'm saying? ^^D probably not... :P

Basically it is very arguable...Would Shikamaru be able to analyse a person fully through their body movements, the variations of the tone of their voice, even just how they start a sentence, to the point of knowing their every next move and decision before they do? Maybe, maybe not

Could L, defeat an Immortal ninja (with abilities exeeding the supernatural expectance from a normal, fantasy ninja) using only strings, a hole, and some bombs? Maybe, maybe not ;P

It Is VERY arguable ^^D HOWEVER... my bias opinion is:
Chess match:
L>Shikamaru

Sogi Match:
Shikimaru>L

L has been a tad overrated in this thread I believe.

He would still win both though.

Shikamaru is good at figuring out stratergies, but in times in the anime, he has made mistakes, proberly more than L.

for me, its depends, both are smart, L i think may be more cleaver over all. however, Shikamaru's ablity to analise someones movments after one incounter is outstanding, once the game begins and he sees L's stratergies he may be able to predict even L's moves.

though on the flip side, L never likes to lose and may fool Shikamaru into a fulse move.

its very confusing and would be fantastic to witness these guys play.

think it would be a very long game tho.
