to me it depend which anime i like bleach on animatin and one piece on manga

but i think most action type anime pple will prefer animation

flying shadow
both have there ups and downs

anime's have great potential that is not too often realized, and the same can be said about manga

It depends a lot on the series.

A lot of series use a ton of padding (including all of the big three shounen fight), so I tend to go manga on most of those cases. Though occasionally the anime people's additions are worthwhile, Fairy Tail's actually doing on stuff like expanding on flashbacks and exploring plot-relevant stuff.

Whichever comes first tends to be overall better (Read or Die animation beat it's manga solidly, as did Melancholy of Haruhi and Slayers. All three of which were novels even sooner, interestingly), but there are exceptions. Sometimes with alternate story takes, both end up good in different ways, so it's worth watching/reading both versions.

I agree that both have their ups and downs as flying shadow put it, but speaking for myself I much prefer anime simply because you get so much more out of it.

Take Naruto for example. I don't bother reading the manga because the anime has tons of awesome extra stories that don't appear in the manga and which I often prefer to the supposed 'main story' (the land of vegetables arc for example).

I would say anime is better as manga generally failed to show some juicier part of the story such as the fight/competition. It's hard to notice "speed" and some "special movement" from the manga itself.

I read the Manga sometimes only to find out what's canonly going on in the series that I'm really interested in. Bleach is one of the many.

I would have to say that Anime wins unless of course you hate sitting there wondering when on Earth the fight is gonna begin and the conversation will stop (that's right, I'm talking to you, Dragon Ball Z).

It's a matter of quality, taste and mood.

Anime such as the "Hellsing Ultimate OVA" exceed the quality of the corresponding source: the manga. It's easy to detect the amount of work and effort that has gone into the anime. Then there's the matter of taste. Some prefer manga others anime. Lastly we have the mood, which is more or less self-explanatory.
