Kyp Durron and Kyle Katarn vs. DE Palpatine

Master Han
Mr. "I'm more powerful than Luke Skywalker" Durron, and Mr. "battlemaster of the Order" Katarn face off against the most powerful sith lord who ever lived.

After Palpatine has once again returned from the grave, and apparently killed Luke Skywalker, the two next most prominent members of the Jedi High Council embark on a desperate attempt to stop the deposed Emperor- at any cost. They confront the sith lord in a historic monument-replica of the Old Republic's Senate Rotunda.

sabers- team 1 arguably
force- sidious most likely, although kyp had luke skywalker-esque raw power
all out: DE palpatine, due to force storms.

All I know about Durron is he's the strongest Jedi in the Order barring Luke and once considered himself Lukes superior. As for his ability in combat I've got nothing but his Wookieepedia entry.

Katarn is similarly quite murky, but I'm not of a mind that he can stand against Palpatine considering Caedus seemed to handle him just fine.

Unless these guys can wow me, Palpatine kicks their asses.

1. He manipulates dorvin basals with greater ease than Luke did (at least on Skywalker's first try)
2. He uses a destroyed freighter as a telekinetic weapon in Dark Journey (props to anyone who could find this...)
3. He develops the method of hurling shadow bombs via telekinesis.
4. IIRC, Luke himself suggested that Kyp Durron could become more powerful than "all of us".

IIRC, Caedus manipulates an airspeeder or something to distract Katarn.

XSUPREMEXSKILLZ
plus katarn was protecting his weakened jedi ally.

But Kyp no longer needed this particular missile. He ordered Octa's squadron to regroup in a defensive position around the Jedi scientist's ship.

"As the Master says, size matters not," he murmured.

He released his hold on the second missile, not caring that it was swallowed by one of the coralskipper's stuttering singularities. Reaching deep into himself, he sought resources he had not used for many years.

Once before, Kyp had seized a ship and dragged it out of the fierce heart of a gas giant. Now he reached out with the Force and took hold of the dead freighter.

It shot forward with astonishing ease, moving steadily through the vacuum of space toward the shielded coral-skipper.

Lan Rim's dark chuckle came through the comm. "Subtle as always, Kyp! Let's not let this one get away, Dozen!" he shouted.

The lieutenant spun off in a tight turn, his two surviving pilots following closely. They darted around the big coralskipper, cutting off its retreat, taking and returning fire from the other enemy skips. Their daring maneuvers soon exacted a price-lan's ship got caught in a Yuuzhan Vong crossfire. The double blast of plasma proved too much for his shields, and the ship dissolved in a bright splatter of plasma and superheated metal.

The pilots Lan had commanded doggedly held the course he'd plotted. The XJs continued to harry the big skip, forcing it to keep up its stuttering shields as the dead freighter closed in. At the last moment, the surviving X-wings shot away toward safety.

The freighter never got close. One moment it was there; the next it simply disappeared into a void. What happened next was not exactly what Kyp had had in mind.

He'd hoped for a physical impact, or, barring that, that the freighter might overwhelm the dovin basal's capacity, leaving the big coralskipper vulnerable to attack. It had never occurred to him that the skip's multiple singularities might merge into one and fold in on the Yuuzhan Vong ship like a glove turning inside out. But suddenly, the freighter was gone. So was the coralskipper.

IIRC, he did it in a very different way then Luke. Luke straight up moved the singularity while Kyp manipulated or even "tricked" the basal.

Anyway, Sidious dominates.

Raptor22
It's been a while since I read either instance. Didn't kyp pass out after he manipulated the basil but Luke was able to stay conscious but was extremely drained. Or was it the other way around?

Also i could be mistaken but I remember Luke manipulating 2 at once, i think he pulled them apart and then let them colide.

Does anyone knows if kyp manipulated 1 or 2 or if my memory of Luke's feat is correct?

Wait - are you sure about this?

The tactic's actual failure aside, this is a pretty darn impressive TK feat, even if it was in the vacuum of space.

Although it's sort of confusing - why isn't the singularity already pulling the freighter in? Does it have some sort of magical range limit?

What if Palpatine uses both maelstorm and a hyperspace wormhole at the same time?

He can multitask the latter ability in the Dark Empire audio drama.

Summoning only one force storm and a maelstorm should be easier than two force storms or multiple force storms.

"Already, I have perfected the Force maelstrom, which creates an invulnerable energy sphere to block incoming attacks while bombarding enemies with debris and electrifying them with bolts of lightning."

Nephthys
What if he cloaked his presence in the Force and turned invisible? He could kill anyone!!!

pencilcrayon
Hasn't Luke already done both of those? Only Ben could locate Luke?

Q99
I don't think it'd be an easy fight, but I believe the pair can pull it off.

I think he'd find the maelstrom isn't quite as invulnerable as all that, I could see Kyp counteracting it while giving Kyle a chance to attack, and having his concentration disrupted during even a single force storm is very dangerous for him.

pencilcrayon
The Maelstorm also attacks his enemies, distracting them while he activates his force storm via mere thought and inclination.

Given his speed, he should be able to complete both in the same time they attack.

Given their speed, Kyp should be able to handle defending against it for both of them.

And you say 'mere thought and inclination,' but it requires a lot of concentration. He *barely* controlled them and when he messed up the Eclipse was destroyed, remember. And they take time to form anyway, even if he starts at the same time as other stuff there's time to disrupt him.

pencilcrayon
He has some control of them over them, but not completely, at least not yet.

Luke and Leia and the unborn child enveloped him in light, cutting him off from the dark side.

He was also multitasking by RotS when he levitates the pod he's standing on while lifting 3 other pods.
