Jedi Grandmaster vs. Leader of the newer breed of Sith
Force, sabers, all out

Kinda leaning towards Krayt.
Lord Stark
Where as Darth Malgus grew more powerful since their last confrontation Satele deteriorated. Prime Malgus is roughly equal to Krayt, and Knight Satele is no match for him.
NewGuy01
I don't think Satele deteriorated just after Hope, nor do I think Hope was her peak. IIRC her peak was during that one novel that involves Darth Chratis, all of her most impressive feats are during that novel.
Krayt still wins, though.
Lord Stark
^Feats from the novel? I know around the Hope era she also grievously injured Mr. Malgus.
Intrepid37
Satele.

Telekinetically crushing hex droids with a gesture.
Nephthys
Satele does say in TOR that shes not as good a warrior as she used to be.

Jedi are supposed to be humble.
I wouldn't underestimate Grand Master Satele Shan, she did really well during Hex crises.
Grand Master Satele Shan is also stated to be "unbelievably fast" by Force-user standards, this is another indication.
Nephthys
She says it as an explanation for why she's not going to help you fight, she isn't just being humble imo.
RedX1852
Krayt, he was remarked by Luke of his skills with the Saber

Indeed, I think she's in her prime in the opening moments of the Cold War. During the Cold War she steadily declines. Which is silly considering she's only 57...but I guess she's another Kenobi.

The idea of Jedi being middle aged in our time are weak/atrophying(despite medical advances in sci-fi future time, and Force longevity) is just another way Writers Are Stupid.
Lord Stark
^Yeah also apparently funding an additional 5 million Clone Troopers would bankrupt the entire Galactic Republic. Oh and 3 million battledroids are enough to turn the tide of the galactic scale confrontation.
Stealth Moose
Aside from the OT, the only thing that interests me anymore in SW is fancy lightsaber battles. Everything else is ****ing retarded anymore.

And the Banking Clan dude says the Separatists just took out a loan (lol) to purchase and additional three million battle droids and Senator Farr is like "OMG THEY WILL WIPE US OUT!"

Makes you wonder how the Empire managed to build a Death Star and staff it with over a million crewmembers.

From what I can recall,
She was able to follow a high-tier Sith Lord closely for several miles without him even noticing her presence, she was able to crush hordes of Hex Droids into little balls with a gesture, or freeze them in place with a glance, she was able to create a shield around herself that could deflect the Hex Droid's blasterfire, and she could use the same shielding technique to survive in the vacuum of space. She also was noted to have incredible precognition, her skills with it being legendary, and her predictions never wrong, she shattered a blast door into countless pieces, and in later works around this point in time she stalemated Darth Baras in a sheer lightsaber duel.
Her only feat in "Hope" that outdoes these is her showing with Tutaminis, honestly.

She should honestly be at least Revan level. Her force feats are better and her battle skill has been deferred to by the HoT on several occasions.
Not to mention the possibility of her having Shatterpoint and Battle Meditation.
NewGuy01
I'd put her on Revan's level, but not necessarily above him.

Some writers have no sense of scale.
Iirc the essential guide tried to handwave it saying it was X million "units" (of unspecified size) of clone troopers.

In the case of Kenobi at least, Jensaarai1 came up with some very smart explanations. He suggested that Kenobi's physical weakness could be the result of
a) Old war injuries catching up with him
and
b) He had spent much of his time on Tattooine learning to become a Force Spirit and so was forced to neglect his physical training.
I would add that living in a harsh desert wasteland probably didn't help.

You're entitled to your opinion. Personally I like the lightsabre duels too but there are also some characters I really like.

Same. It's the flanderization and inconsistencies which drive me nuts.

Yeah both of those can be a pain.
Lord Stark
I am also pretty disappointed with the handling of Satele Shan's character. Finally a female Grand Master, give her the hype of the youngest in history...then give her jack shit to do except advise.

Nomi Sunrider was a female Grand Master before it was cool.

She was never called Grand Master though. http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-colbert.gif

Oddly, during that time period they didn't really use the title.
She was head of the Jedi order, in any case.

Satele found Tython, and rebuilt the order after one of the longest galactic wars in history. http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-colbert.gif

Satele is about as interesting as drying paint though. Nomi, at least, has style.
Stealth Moose
I'd bang Satele, not Nomi though. Her hairline is kinda worrisome.
