Which Sidious is superior? One is superior in sabers, the other in the force.

Not sure.

...Palpatine, like most Force Wielders, gains power over time. I'd bet on ROTJ. I'm not so sure he's lost much, if any of his dueling skills. At most, his younger self might have a stamina advantage, but that's it.

Probably ROTS Sidious.

ROTJ Sidious probably won't be even close to his peak in Sabers. And I see no real reason to think his Force powers were far superior by ROTJ either.

Nearly 25 years to sit on his ass and meddle with the Force probably has increased his potency by a fair margin.

Plus pretty sure RotJ novel says he is at the height of Dark power or some such.

By that theory Yoda should have been a Force god. Clearly all characters reach a peak level at some point, and would only then improve by learning new Force knowledge or whatever.

Therefore improvements have to be either stated or shown in some capacity.

Chances are looking at how Sidious was physically at that point, it's unlikely he'd be as good as his ROTS self in Sabers.

Pretty sure that's Vader.

Isn't there something in the either Rise of Darth Vader or one of those Luceno novels suggesting he and the Dark Side as a whole got more powerful as the Great Purge went on?

I'm fairly certain it's stated about both of them now I think about it.

Oh and didn't Labyrinth of Evil or RotS say that Yoda lost his edge slightly in physical matters but had never been stronger in the Force?

Depends what he learned though.

If he was learning how to create a force storm for instance, that would only help him in combat once he can actually do that.

Maybe he was learning essence transfer, but again that wouldn't aid him in a Saber fight.

So unless he's specifically stated to have become "more powerful" than he was, I see no reason to think he could match his ROTS Counterpart in combat. But that's just me.

I believe TPM / RotS has better physical and dueling skills / stats.

On the other hand RotJ Sidious may have become more powerful in the force.

As of RotJ Sidious has devoted vast amounts of time to studying the dark side of the force. He sought to become immortal, (in the new canon at least) how to bend reality, performed many dark and twisted experiments on Byss, accumulated vast amounts of force knowledge, and more besides.

So I'd assume Sidious powers have increased by a rather large amount.

As for sabers, impossible to tell.

RotJ Sidious should be weaker. Using Force excessively makes body decay, so he shouldn't be as fit as he used to be.

Considering Plagueis' training regimen there is no way Sidious didn't reach his prime by RotS.

Post Purge Sidious only has lightning feats pretty much, doesn't he? Ashing squads of stormtroopers and whatnot?

While ROTS Palpatine wasn't Yoda crippled, I'm pretty sure that during saber duels about 99 percent of his physicality was enhanced by his force powers.

I don't really see why people think a walking stick or getting older matters considering Sidious' titanic Force reserves. The fact his Force reserves and command of the Force increased only suggests he became better physically, not worse.

To me it matter, becauze it'z an argument to me, becauz they juzt ignore the fact that thoze rezerve even exizted...

At a certain level of phyical weaknezz direct force attackz are better than light zaber combat, wich became a wazte of energy....

One hand Vader couldn't kill RotS Sidious IMHO.

Blatantly stated that Yoda lost a step in his old age. He too has titanic force reserves and can fight for an extended amount of time. Although I'd argue were he a hundred or two years younger he would have defeated ROTS Sidious.

TPM / RotS Sidious was a physical beast just like Maul and Savage, or maybe he was even stronger than those two. There is no way One hand Vader would throw someone strong like him, it seems he become physically weaker in years and that is why he start to use walking stick in RotJ as well.

IIRC there was a source saying that Sidious only had the cane to feign weakness.

Though this would've been something I came across like 6 years ago if it exists.
