I saw the source material, what Kylo does isn't impressive.

Surviving a direct shot from a bowcaster, blocking lightsaber strikes with his bare hands, and http://www.blastr.com/sites/blastr/files/StarWarsTheForceAwakensVisualDictionary.jpg all point to Ren being an extremely formidable opponent in the Canonverse.

Having the blood of Vader doesn't help anything, and being able to block saber strikes with your hand isn't common, but its not uncommon either.

That being said... The Royal Guards are force sensitive, their force pikes have the intensity of a saber blade with several different settings.

They are handpicked out of MILLIONS of stormtroopers and then trained to physical perfection, and they know every single type of combat there is to know. Thats not just me saying that, its a direct quote (albeit worded differently).

They even know H2H techniques that they, and ONLY they know, its exclusive to the Guards.

Which is great, but Kylo still has the advantage.

Lightsaber > Force Pike. One swing of the lightsaber, the Force Pike becomes useless.

Also more refined Force abilities as noted. Compared to the Guard's ability to resist Force attacks and amping their physicals.

He wins, but the Guard makes him work for it.

Blocking lightsabers with your hand is a form of Tutaminis, Corran Horn did it, his grandfather did it, Satele Shan did it, Valkorion did it, tons of people have done it.

In Legends, Horn was naturally gifted with the power.

Shan's immensely powerful - and Valkorion is Valkorion.

We have no idea how powerful those Jedi were, and Snoke is featless.

The Imperial Royal Guard is said to be better then the Magnaguards in every way.

Not a direct quote, but pretty much the general consensus, and they also won over them in Insider VS.

Once again, him being related to Vader means nothing, it doesn't make him immensely powerful.

It means he has insane potential, and he's supposed to be like 30 so after that many years of training with Luke and Snoke I'd imagine he's pretty damn powerful. Seriously, how is this even a debate? I'm done wasting my time with this

Which is irrelevant because they only wield Force Pikes and Heavy Blasters. It's great that they master every weapon, but it doesn't help them here.
