What's next for Swtor?

Now that KotET is out and people who want to play have likely played it, the question arises about where the story can go from here?

Valkorion is dead for reals and hopefully never coming back, the PC is Heir to the Eternal Throne and in command of the Eternal Fleet, an unmatched military force as well as the Gravestone, the most powerful ship ever. Where can the story go now?

This thread will be about speculation on what the future of Swtor will be, should they decide to continue making content.

Here are a few idea's I've seen bandying around:

1. War with the Republic and Empire: Mentioned in the credits by Lana and Theron, tensions between the now 3 factions are running hot. It could be that we're forced to become the villain and defend our domination of the galaxy from the original 2 factions.

2. Malgus returns: An interesting concept. Malgus returning could shake up the dynamic of the Sith Empire and lead to a bloody civil war where the Outlander must intervene in. And the Republic is doubtful to be silent while this is happening.

3. Yuuzhan Vong: Lol, screw canon. Who cares about the old EU, just pull the trigger and fight the Vong a few thousand years early.

4. Boringly spinning our wheels grinding command points while waiting for them to pull the plug: An intriguing and innovative possibility.

5. Revan: Why.

Please share your thoughts. No trolling please.

We don't need a dustbin. We need a shredder.

Honestly, Beni's probably right. I don't see SWTOR lasting much longer, they've made the outlander too powerful for story to be interesting anymore.

Mechanics wise the game is dead, they haven't invested in a long term base at all, everything kinda just points to Bioware giving up. In all liklihood, New!Canon is prepping its own MMO, and won't want SWTOR eating up competition.

Nephthys
I think that's certainly a possibility but I was also under the impression that TOR was making Bioware bank these days. I'm not they'd want to get rid of a profitable resource until it actually starts getting unsustainable.

Azronger
I doubt it's getting canceled since I heard it's going strong financially (I heard that, but not sure if true). Maybe they'll continue the Iokath storyline since that was left open.

Zenwolf
The 1st is probably more than likely.

S_W_LeGenD
Go back in time and start with Tulak Hord.

OR

Revive Darth Malgus.

AncientPower
Malgus and Jadus returning seems inevitable.

Nephthys
If a future expansion was those two returning as a team, badder and madder than ever, I would be a verrrry happy camper.

The final boss fight would be Outlander and Acina/Arcann/Lana vs Jadus and Malgus.

Why not? A great 2 v 2 duel would be epic.

Ursumeles
Because a villain.coming back x times is jut lame, and terrible. And two villains, who should be dead, at the same time? No, thanks.

Nephthys
Jadus only dies in 1 version out of 3. And Malgus was just thrown off a ledge and never found. He was shown in carbonite in one of the trailers in fact. Though I heard they'd double-backed on that and made it that you just kill him in the flashpoint.

Beniboybling
Who cares, there's nothing epic about mashing the keyboard and navigating nonsense mechanics in another of TOR's lame boss fights.

What's next?

Hopefully something they've never done before, like a good story.

You're asking too much. They will continue selling their arcade as a MMO.

UCanShootMyNova
Valkorian isn't dead. He's simply weakened biding his time within the recesses of the Outlander's mind.

Yeh, but that's kind of what I mean. Long term survival of an MMO involves dedicated teams for PVP, a focus on raiding etc. At the moment their plan appears to be pumping out easy to make content that requires grind upon grind, which produces cash through the cartel market but won't last long.

It'd build up hype for a new Star Wars MMO as well, if SWTOR was successful but lacking in a couple areas that the new game planned to excel in.

I actually thought KOTET looked amazing when we weren't sure if the Immortal Emperor was even force sensitive, and before we found out he was Vitiate. They came so close to an innovative story that defied their previous works. The Eternal Empire felt like a Hapes Consortium type deal, but in the end all we got was the usual power creep which at this point leaves political intrigue and alliances irrelevant, while the Godlander solos armies.

I genuinely believe they can't make a good story with the player character in the position they're in, so I'd put good money on:

Beniboybling
How many sides of the Force will he be beyond this time?

DarthAnt66
They've done practically everything at this point.

We've done the standard Sith Empire vs Galactic Republic war.

We've fought ancient threats return to space, like Soa.

We've experienced the return of Revan two times over.

We've had Sith civil wars with Darth Malgus and the Dread Masters.

We've fought the Hutt Cartel and powerful pirate clans.

We've experienced a third-party coming from unknown space.

We've killed off Vitiate himself, the antagonist of the SWTOR saga.

I'd say the only thing left to do to finish the game is resetting it.

Topple the Eternal Alliance and bring back the Jedi vs Sith wars.

Zenwolf
Tbh speaking of, I felt that whole Force aspect went completely nowhere.

Nephthys
Yeah. I guess it was just to reinforce the idea that the old Jedi vs Sith clash had become irrelevant.

nfactor1995
It'd be cool to see Jadus come back as a threat to everyone rather than just being an Imperial Agent antagonist. They could flesh out his character and his powers and abilities more too.

Nephthys
I wonder if we have Vaylin in our heads now instead of Valkorion.

UCanShootMyNova
Please god no.

darthbane77
Pull a KOTOR, the Outlander loses his memories and has to regain his power to beat whoever the villain is. Or, jump forwards in time, maybe to Bane's era and start from scratch. One idea I had that I think is interesting though is introducing Darth Andeddu, since we don't actually know when Andeddu lived, set him between the events of KOTET and Bane's rise; I mean why not? There's a couple thousand years to work with.

Ursumeles
Wasn't Aneddu the first User of the title "Darth"?

Fated Xtasy
Plot twist. The HoT was knocked the **** out on Tython while fighting the raiders and everything was a dreamyes

The first that we know of, not necessarily the first ever.

Yeah, but he would predate Malak, Revan and co. then, and can't live after KOTET.

Yeah, but he would predate Malak, Revan and co. then, and can't live after KOTET. And why not? Andeddu was famous for having discovered the secret for eternal life. Bane learned essence transfer from Andeddu's holocron. Why is it impossible to have him appear in SWTOR when Vitiate likewise was immortal? And it would add more depth to Andeddu's character, something I'm not at all opposed to.

Nephthys
Andeddu was owned by Wyyrlok. The Outlander would clown him cold, lol.

darthbane77
Was Andeddu at full strength though? Was he as powerful as he had been in the past? If not then we could see him at his strongest in SWTOR.

Emperordmb
Bane said that aside from the ritual of essence transfer the rest of the holocron in Andeddu's holocron was very similar to that of the Korriban Academy in POD, so...

darthbane77
So...what exactly?

Ursumeles
It would mean: (Plagueis >>&gtwink DoE Bane > RoT Bane >> PoD Bane > Aneddu ~ post-KOTET Outlander )smilesmile

Nephthys
Why Andeddu? He's not interesting or cool and he's got one of the shittiest Darth names ever. I'm just confused as to why him.

He'd just be a shitty Sith who appears out of nowhere to be a threat. And how the hell could he be a threat to the Eternal Alliance that has Jedi, Sith, Republic + Empire military, Voss Mystics, Gormak warriors, Zakuul Knights, Chiss & Mando's, Arcann, Senya and the Outlander, one of the greatest collection of heroes of all time and the strongest fleet in existence?

The guy who lost the Wyyrlok is gonna go up against that?

Beniboybling
#stillbetterthanTOR

Nephthys
Its so bizarre that you're the guy from the TOR forums and you hate it more than anyone.

darthbane77
I actually think Andeddu is interesting, but I guess that's just me.

Emperordmb
Sure you could say he's interesting, but he's absolutely not the kinda guy that would be capable of threatening the Outlander or SWTOR era Galaxy

If he he wasn't at his absolute full power, as strong as he was in life, when he fought Wyyrlok, then we've never seen how powerful he really was.

RHaggis
Preferably nothing...

We meet Revan Resurrected, the latest incarnation after Revan Returned, Revan Reborn, and Revan Redeemed, and he TKs a planet while people monologue about how powerful he is because fanservice.

nfactor1995
Still think it'd be sick if Jadus returned with some army he's been building up all this time (as he sort of implied he would do) and try to establish his version of the empire.
