in the fight with dooku in ROTS when dooku lifts obi-wan up with the force his hand with his lightsaber inis completely free. why the hell didn't he just cut obi in half when he had the easiest chance to do it.

Because otherwise the continuity of the movies would be completely thrown off, and we'd all go spiralling into a pit of torture and dementia...

Serious answer: Dooku probably found it more fun to throw him through the air as a display of his power.

Doku (as Lucas calls him) threw Obi-Wan because he is a giant poo-poo head.

Dooku as Sidious told him was too lose. Dooku might have thought by throwing Obi-Wan, Anakin would try harder since he wants to be the strongest Jedi and that would show Dooku's power.

Oh, and as for "Obi wan being lucky to be alive"....

Sidious wanted Obi-Wan alive so that he could beat Anakin, and curb his power.

Remember the whole thing was set up by Sidious himself. He set up his own capture. He wanted to test Anakin, so see if he could be turned to the dark side. Naturally, Dooku knew Palpatine is Darh Sidious. Palpatine's idea was to get Obi out of the way, and for Dooku to fight Anakin one on one. Palpatine knew Anakin would win. By killing Dooku, Anakin's turn to the dark side began. Obi would have spared Dooku. Besides what would happen if Dooku had been spared?????

Yes! The Jedi council would have ascertained Palpatine is Sidious and he would have been destroyed. Ep 4,5,6 would never have happened. Sidious wanted Dooku dead. He had to die.

Dooku didn't just slice open Obi-Wan's gut because that's not Dooku's way. Rather, crushing him under a HUGE slab of metal makes more sense for toying with your opponents. Dooku tends to toy with his prey...

He's thinking that Anakin was meant to be tossed into the lava so that Palpatine could be on top...but he's wrong.

Wouldn't Sidious want Anakin to be stronger then him so he has better protection?

Hell, Sidious wanted Anakin stronger so that Anakin could rule with tyrany and power and keep the Sith on top and eradicate the Jedi. That would have been Sidious' version of a fanboy dream.

However, Vader got his ass-kicking and so Sidious was satisfied that the Jedi were gone anyway.

dooku was much more concerned with anakin he knew he could be obi wan at any time "my powers have doubled since the last time we meet count"

that does't really explain why he didn't kill him.
