Or thing holds his breath and proceeds to kick his ass. If a powerless wolverine can be exposed to it and still be able to go up against sabretooth then so can thing.

Thing holding his breath wont stop the death factor. When was a powerless Wolverine exposed to it and still fought Sabertooth?

Yeah its pulled off and Wolverine was beating in short order and brought to Sabretooth.
