which animes/mangas would make great live actions movies?
BOPRecruit 16
please vote, and if you have the time, explain why you think so. i'd vote for rurouni kenshin and inu yasha. i don't have the time, so i'll explain later.
SlayerChick1188
I think Cowboy Bebop would make a GREAT live action movie!! But i also voted for Kenshin and InuYasha

BOPRecruit 16
i think that rurouni kenshin would make the best and easiest to be made, live action movie. if you get the people and similar set up to "the last samurai" and the sword fighting styles down, it'd be great! when i first heard of and saw pix of that movie, it immediately reminded me of kenshin.
supershane
what about teen titans what do u think great live action movie or what
BOPRecruit 16
that counts as an anime? don't think it would. just need to improve the look of the suits or the characters voices/matiruty level. star...something...is too ditzy.
Hegemon875
Patlabor I and II would make great movies!!
gambit88
i think dragon ball z and cowboy bebop just cuz cowboy bebop has faye
CaptainInsano2
Akira is being made into a movie but they are having some problems with directors and my cousin is writing a Cowboy bebop script. It would be a trilogy, each movie would be about the 3 main episodes 1. Ballad of Fallen Angels. 2. Jupiter Jazz 3. Real Folk Blues.
BOPRecruit 16
capt': do you have any links to news about the akira movie?
Trinity_Matrix
Out of the ones on that list, I think only Cowboy Bebop would be good as a liveaction. I think the liveaction DBZ, if it ever actually gets made, will suck. A liveaction Evangelion movie is in the works, and I think that it might actually work out (it better, that's one of my favorite anime). And currently airing in Japan is a liveaction Sailormoon. I've seen the first episode of it, and it's kinda cheesy, but a lot better than expected.
BOPRecruit 16
in an anime magazine, i saw an ad for a live action show of sailor moon on ice. the costumes looked poorly done.
Trinity_Matrix
Actually, coming from the viewpoint of someone who's attempted a Sailormoon costume, I think they look pretty good. For the liveaction Sailormoon, its more based on the manga as opposed to the anime, which is why they may look strange to some people. And I'm talking about the liveaction TV show - I didn't even know there was a Sailormoon on Ice O_O I know there are the Sailormoon Musicals (Seramyu)...
ragesRemorse
japanese anime should not, again SHOULD NOT be made into live action movies. It goes against everything Anime is about. These movies are anime to begin with, because they are in an existence all of there own, and the only way to tell their story is in a world of no rule or boundaries. Leave perfection alone.
BOPRecruit 16
*oh crap! as soon as i voted on my own poll, the poll stopped letting votes in! darn it!*
vvvrulz
Thanks ragesRemorse, couldnt have put it any better myself.
Spawnie
Remorse said it all.
But, all things apart I would love to see Cowboy Bebop made into a movie, also Kenshin, DBZ, and Akira.
If they ever choose to make a movie out of these they should just scrap the old stories adn make something that would follow in the next Anime movie of those in question.
Bebop - has a neat story and full of action and wouldn't be hard to converge into a movie.
Kenshin - heh, OVA series rock the house. Samurais? well it's good anyway u flip it.
Another sick and fantastic story is Berserk. Loads of sick pics and sick action. Now that would be a movie! I hope u all know and had a chance to even take a glimpse at Berserk! If not plz do. Some of the dynamic action in the manga comic is confusing, but u have to adapt your eyes to some details.
Akira - now when I bought the anime I didn't know the story I didn't even know how it was I just bought it. I saw a sneek preview and I was in love. Some of the story doesn't hold too strongly its ground but it's amazig animation and I loved every minute of it. I watched this one 2 times in a row when I got it. I would love to see the movie.
DBZ - Well what to say to this child orientated anime and manga, except that it has great friendship values to show to kids and devotion to a cause. The late anime series after episodes 150 take some new changes in the drawing and so the animation looked more cool and agressive. Heh I thought about a movie made out of this but I never campe up with an interestind scenario that the wide crowd would comprehand and accept as a finished product.
duffy
yup yup leave them as anime
Spawnie
Escaflowne is too much. It would look worse then Dungens and Dragons.
Actually we were talkin about making DBZ a movie, and I have just seen Matrix revolutions. Now after I have seen the Smith VS Neo fight I can immagine how a DBZ fight in a movie would look like. All that action in the air was nice and only lacking DBZ power moves

The Force
well for me it's a tie between kenshin, inuyasha, and yu yu. but i voted for inuyasha anyway
BOPRecruit 16
i've seen people dress up as the inu characters at anime conventions, the costumes looked good. plus, the characters are more grounded and spx can use wires and stuff to pull off the simi aireal battles.
Morph
I wanna see this new Lupin III movie.. Lupin ****in' rocks.
Spawnie
Wow, finally someone mentioned Lupin. I thought that only a few ppl were left as fans of that old anime. I used to watch it when I was a kid and Lupin is one of the most hillarious animes ever. Extreme action and lots of laughs while at it. The ideal character to play Lupin is in fact and had always been Jean Paul Belmondo. He is dead by now I think but that was the only guy that looked almost like Lupin and had the same constitution and did all his stunts. Stunts like flying helicopters, planes, paradropping, u name it.
Daywalker
You took the words right out of my mouth about the fight in revolutions. Dind't know how it all could be gone until I saw that movie. I'd love to see the likes of Goku,Vegeta,Cell, and a host of others.
One thing's for sure, if it's done correctly, the budget cannot be small
Hegemon875
Looks like Goku broke Piccolo's leg in that pic

BOPRecruit 16
i so want to see trigun as a live action movie! vash is so funny!
Daywalker
LOL, yeah, not only was the guy dressed as Piccolo, but he was battle damaged too. I thought that was entirely too clever.
BOPRecruit 16
is that a convention?
Daywalker
Yeah, i'm with Piccolo at the Las Vegas comic convention and i'm on stage performing at the San Diego comic convention masquerade.
BOPRecruit 16
great job on the costumes! (let's get back on topic soon so that the mod doesn't close this thread soon)
Daywalker
I love the idea of DBZ and the fight scenes can be done reasonably now that i've seen Matrix Revolutions but now my thing is..............how would they look and what about all of that crazy hair?
BOPRecruit 16
i'm guessing they would have to modify and tweek the style of the hair. in this sketch i had to do for art, since i can't draw the hair and people too well but the clothes, i just changed the hair so that it was individual spikes. easier. it wouldn't be too bad if they did that?
junkiejoker
The newest news on the Akira movie is Stephen Norrington dropped out, stating he no longer wanted to work on big budget movies. Warner Brothers have shelved the skript, and so far no other news of them making it has been made. Which, is good news for Akira fans like me, because I don't think a live action should be made.
LeAtHerRFace
I think Cowboy Beebop, because its the most realistic. And sad to say I think if they made a live movie on Dragon Ball Z that would look a little corny or lame.
Trinity_Matrix
Crazy hair = wigs and LOT'S of gel, etc.
Those are some awesome costumes...I love to cosplay...
But back on topic, anime should stay anime, because it'd be too easy to destroy a good anime by trying to make it liveaction.
kill the bill
what would be cool is if it started with the moon and clouds where moving over it and then if it started with a stare down kenshin and jina and then the start a giant fight scene and then after that it faded to RURONI KESHIN:tale of a living hell and its when kenshin is in his late late late 30ies and the whole movie could be about how enishi wants his revenge and end al sad and stuff that calls for a sequal!
grey fox
Anime is difficult to produce in live action . Even when a film is completed it is usually very cheesy, look at the guyver series (although I personally liked 'Dark Hero')
XxILuvVegetaxX
hmmm i thnk Trigun and Rurouni Kenshin would be really good as live action movies... i heard a couple of years ago (like when i was in the 6th grade) that they were making a live action movie for dbz (Funimation posted it) so what happened (or did they do it already)? it would be very interesting to see though rofl
FullMetalLover1
yeah trigun! awesome!
Zarathustra
It seems entirely pointless to make a movie that's already been made and change the style in which it's done. Why bother? The story already exists in the exact same medium, so why remake it with only an aesthetic different? It seems akin to making a movie twice with different actors and trying to sell both.
By all means, try to tell similar stories through live action films, but making a movie again with live action makes about as much sense as taking the script from Blade and making it an anime. It would be a waste of time and money.
