i've watched a few really brilliant documentary based films recently and was wondering if anyone could recommend any more

"March of the Penguins" was very nice, still in theatres, though.

From a surfing pornographic level, The Billabong Odyssey is mind-boggling, but if you think about the ethos behind it, then it doesn't have much to do with real surfing.

Check out 'Step Into Liquid' for the love/stoke of surfing and 'Riding Giant's for the history of the world's greatest watermen. The Laird section alone is worth it.

Oooooooo my, I am really looking forwards to March of the Penguins, absolutely adore the look of it.

strangely enough im not even remotely a fan of surfing but billabong odyssey was just spectacular...

Check out The Thin Blue Line. I personally haven't seen it, but I have heard great things about the film.
