All right people. This was a LOOOOOOONG time coming. Aquaman has THE most underwritten and underestimated character in comicdom. This was a particularly difficult character to create a respect thread about because A) apparently not many people like Aquaman and B) Nobody reads his goddamn comics. Let's take a poll. HONESTLY. How many people have actually read at LEAST three or more Aquaman comics. Thought so.

And both Namor's and Aquaman's mainstream costumes are ridiculous. Moreso Namor's in my opinion. For god's sake, how homoerotic can that costume get?

Aquaman just has a bad color scheme. Green and orange?

Namor's speedo is pretty ridiculous but his black costume looks cool, IMO.

Yeah, they should make that Namor's official costume IMO. The speedos just don't work anymore.

Aquaman has had some good costumes, and some artists can actually make the orange/green look good.

It certainly takes the right kind of artist to draw Aquaman in a cool way. Chris Batista does a good job I think.

Yeah. Cept they should keep the gloves off.

Gleason's Aquaman looked great. Actually, the whole book did. I'm not feeling the current art team at all...

He hasn't. Vulko asked him to come back but he refused. At the moment he's too tied up in Sub Diego.

Though from the looks of it, alot of Atlantis might be making their way to Sub Diego.

Is Aquaman in direct line to throne? As in, was his mother member of royal family, or normal Atlantean?

Aquaman deals with a fleet of Oumlandian subs that are attacking Atlantis
Feats:
- Punches through Submarine
- Effortlessly rips the rudder off a sub
- Using the fish to blind the subs sonars
- And overall punking the Oumlandians who had been attacking Atlantis for 3 days until Aquaman had arrived.

Aquaman Demands Respect
This may already have been posted, but i'm posting it anyway. This just shows Aquaman won't back down from anyone. Aquaman thinks that Superman is disrespecting him and well, the scans show the rest. Of course, it's not really Supes, but Aquaman didn't know that.

Aquaman's Water-hand Abilities
Though the water hand isn't really being used much recently, it does have alot of untapped potential. Here's some of what it's been shown to do so far...
- Aquaman can control the hand on a molecular base for it to form different objects. He can also control the density to make it as hard as steel.
- It negates most sorcery it comes in contact with.
- He can telepathically manipulate the hand to detach from his body and move around.
- It can not only heal physical deformities and reverse mutations, but also heal mental problems aswell.
- The hand acts as an amplifier to Aquaman's telepathy allowing him to probe further into a humans mind than he normally can.
- By using his TP to "dive" into the hand it can aslo exhibit some kind of pre-cognitive abilities but this hasn't been defined to well.
- It can also control water.

This isn't a fight so much as two quick skirmishes. Aquaman breaks Slig's grip smashing him into the ground. That's quite a feat considering Slig's strength level is Class 100. Also, after the fight moves outside, and Slig is ready to fight again, Aquaman pretty much punks him.

Aquaman vs. The Brain
This is from JLA Year One. Now i haven't actually read this issue, so please correct me if i'm wrong about anything. But this is what i've been told is happening in the following scans: The Brain has taken control of Hal and the GL ring. Aquaman uses his telepathy to outwill the Brain, take control of the ring and make formation to cut the Brain off of Hal. All without even touching the ring. Obviously that just shows that Arhur has a huge amount of will power.

Awesome job. Aquaman is one of my favorite characters, I wonder how this new Aquaman will fair.

I reckon he'll go alright. So far it all sounds promising, and it's a great creative team. So i'm hopeful.

Aquaman vs. The Justice League
A threat to the surface world was sent out by Thanatos (who looks like Aquaman on steroids) and the world thought it was actually Arthur, so the JLA go to check it out. When Aquaman's had enough, he kicks them out of his city. Shows off his fighting skills and durability, taking a hit from a pissed of Wonder Woman and getting straight back up to fight.

Aquaman vs. Deathstroke
This is a great fight which manages to make both characters look very good. It's shows Slade's intelligence and resourcefulness and gives a great example of Aquaman's senses. Slade's not as quick and strong as he normally is in this fight though.
Feats:
- Aquaman hears gunshots form about 2 miles away.
- He can see in the darkest area's as if it's daylight.
- Arthur not only hears Slade breathing, but can also hear his heartbeat.
- Mentions how Atlantean reflexes are much quicker than Slades, and how he's also far far stronger than any human.
- Slade bounces right of Arthur when he attacks.
- Even blinded Aquaman manages to get a hold of Slade (and Slade even sais that if Arthur connects with one punch, it's finished)

Aquaman is really underrated...he is founding member of the JLA, right?

He's a founding member of the original JLA and the retconned JLA. He's one of the big 7. And he is definately underrated by most.

Aquaman vs. Kordax - Part 1
Aquaman and Kordax engage in a telepathic battle which causes all that has ever walk, swum or crawled in the sea pain. Aquaman's not even tired after.

But still, he lifted most of a city block. I think most people will agree that's damn impressive. Might not be impressive for someone like Namor or Superman, but then this isn't a Namor or Superman respect thread is it? It's an Aquaman respect thread. And it's an impressive feat, for Aquaman.

OTHER then what his Water-hand can do. Believe it or not, but Aquaman comics tend to be more about the actual story and characters, instead of crazy feats of strength and whatnot.

Aquaman vs. Kordax - Part 2
Lats time these two fought they caused every thing that came from the ocean to feel pain. This time Aquaman completely overpowers Kordax. Kordax can't take it, so he kills himself.

Aquaman vs. Olympian
Arthur takes out Olympian who earlier in the issue took out Jo'nn. Plus some cool facts about Arthur's abilities are given. Such as being able to swim Niagra falls upstream.

Lifting a city block is quite impressive what with all the concrete, metal, cars, buildings, etc. That's thousands and thousands of tons.

That street was probably heavier than a sub, if you get a good look at the picture, you can see how large it is, how much water Aquaman is having to displace, and the fact he's lifting not only the street, but the cars and buildings on top of it.

Lucid have you picked up Aquaman #38 yet? HOLY CRAP

I just finished reading it. Great issue. Lots of emotion. Looks like Arcudi's gonna end his run well. I'm extremely looking forward to Arthur's confrontation with Black Manta next issue.

Aquaman vs. Tiamat
While Arthur was defeating Kordax (the Aquaman vs. Kordax part 2 scans a couple of posts back) Tiamat had been beating on Power Girl and Arion outside. Aquaman uses his TP to end the fight very quickly and completely take over Tiamat sending her into Atlan's bag. It's revealed that Akk-hord had given Arthur's abilities a slight push when he did this, but also that Arthur had the potential for it all along.

i admit that was imressive, but namor has lifted subs OUT of water.

the water made the concrete and buildings much easier to lift and orin was in water while doing this.

Aquaman vs. Imperiax Probe
Arthur takes on an Imperiax Probe by himself to defend Atlantis. This is after seeing The JLA defeated by one, but that doesn't faze Arthur. He armours up, grabs his Trident and heads on out to face it alone. And he defeats it, getting himself blown up in the process, but he still saved Atlantis. Of course, Tempest still sends Atlantis into the past anyway...

I remember Arthur wears the same costume later on when he's fighting the JLA, but i think that's it. It does look a lot like the new guys costume. Pre-Crisis Aquaman would weaken quickly and didn't have the greatest durability out of water, but fully hydrated he was still a force to be reckoned with.
