sorry if this has been done before but did Grievous know that the chancellor was palpatine and if not why would they not tell him?

JKozzy
Nope, he doesn't know. My guess for not telling him was that since he was expendable, and not really trusted by Sidious, there was no need to, as long as Palpatine wasn't harmed.

Canadadude
Grievous was used as a pawn like all the Trade Federation. The Emperor could care less if he lives or dies

Tangible God
Why would Palpatine tell Grievous, of all people his true identity? Grievous may use that as a Trump Card later on, to spare his life from the Jedi, and make them focus instead on their beloved Chancellor.

steverules
Palpatine was just using grievous to his advantage and din't really care if grievous died just as long as he had fulfilled what palpatine wanted him to do......it was the same with dooku, but dooku knew that palpatine was sidious but he was still used by palpatine.

yes

Darth_Veav
No he did not. Watch Clone Wars and see how Grievous acted toward Palpatine.

Family_guy725
I wasnt sure if he was just putting on an act

Darth Subjekt
supposedly that scene where GG was talking to Sidious via hologram, was extended and GG was asking why he couldnt just kill Palps when he had the chance, but it wasnt included in the deleted scenes so who knows?

General Grievous was a pawn for the chancellor. With Dooku dead Grievous had to run the war thus keeping it going long enough for the Emperor to turn the Republic into the Empire.

Captain REX
No, Palps never told Grievous. No need to, he was just a pawn, like the rest of the Confederacy, and indeed the Republic and the Jedi as well.

He didn't even tell his Empire after his New Order was set in place. He kept it secretive.

Sidious would have been able to stop GG from killing him if dooku couldnt persuade him not to. (if this was supposed to be in the deleted scenes) One blast of force lightning, boom. GG was pretty much a robot

Scarecrow756
Yes this was mentioned in the ROTS Novel.

Ballister
Yeah, Grievous definetly didn't know. Here's a quote from the book.
"Grievous saw the chancellor hiding under the control panels. Grievous wanted to kill the little coward, but Dooku had told him not to"
Besides, Sidious thought Grievous as a fool, as did Dooku. Basically, he had no idea of anything that was going on, he just wanted to please Dooku.

Council#13
I guess that ends this
