The only conditon to Shatterstar's power is he has to run his sword through you in order to use his power.
Shatterstar is real good. I think he may be as good a fighter as Wolverine. He's basicly a test tube baby that then trained his whole life to be a warrior. Something Apolcalypse likes and wants to do to mutants world round.
Now of course there is ONE thing about Wolverine that seperates him from the very best of fighters in Marvel and that is his beserker rage.
Shatterstar sorta has the beserker rage power strike though so they're close to even.
With his combo science/magic sword he may even be able to defeat the adamantium/vibranium shield.
