Sweeet....

Ushgarak
Feel free to ask the Contact for any advice or strategies- this is the only part of the game in which you are in contact with someone who can help you. You are out of reach of the Alliance for the rest.

bobcrickett

Ushgarak
"There is no point hiding your presence in particular," he replies, "so I recommend you make it as official as possible. Klinge-Faust should arraange to go as an additional observer from the Senate; your presence would make the politics of that look better. The rest can pose as your retinue of you both. Aside from anything else, you need not fear any Imperial 'revelation' of your presence. However, this again highlights the importance of not being caught doing anything... 'dodgy'.

Alkaselzer

Ushgarak
"As a Senator on official business you can bring whatever seucrity advisors and specialists you wish," says the Contact. "Just be careful of overplaying that side of things to the Osokans."

ResubianNushi
Kai listens to the conversation intentively, and then asks, "Exactly how are we getting on the planet?"

Tptmanno1
"Nothing Dodgy? So we're supposed to fly around and cause hell without them knowing its us? Won't it be kinda obvious at that point?"

Alkaselzer
Galahad looks to Kai. "I would assume we could take our own craft."

Galahad looks to Cassius. "I would assume not until the Imperials decide to attack, if they attack. I think there might be more to it for sabotaging their efforts against Lanzar and ourselves than simply shooting them down."

Tptmanno1
"Maybe. We'll be here if you need something shot down though..."

Vera21
"I'd prefer shooting down those blasted TIEs than sitting on our asses on the ground," Scarlet says, propping her combat space boots up on Cassius' chair. "Oh well. Whatever keeps those Imps from getting their way."

General Kaliero
Rhys laughs from his leaning position near the back of the group. "Battle-hungry as you may be, Miss Scarlet, there's more to this than all-out war. Small blasters do well where thermal detonators do not."

Rhys returns his gaze to the Contact. "Where is the central Imperial occupation on Lanzar, and what numbers are we talking here?"

Thraxis

Bespin Bart
Eerin Chim, being a rather large bug, remains standing behind his friend and companion Kyle Ragnor.

"" he asked his friend, clicking with anticipation.

General Kaliero
Rhys smiles at Frank encouragingly. "My buddy Frank here would also like to know what we're up against, and how we're getting there," he finishes with an under-his-breath remark of "Either that, or the Arch of August is needing hair..."

He grins at his companion, saying in Frank's natural tongue, "<Cold, buddy? You look like you've spent a week on Hoth or something. Rub your chest, it'll help.>"

Thraxis
"<Oh, yes, it's certainly 'the Arch of August is needing hair' Does that even mean anything?>" Frank replies, shivering. He crosses his arms over his chest: his breastplate would get in the way of attempting to rub his own chest... Besides, isn't that terran physiology? Canos are six-limbed mammals (two legs, two arms, two wings); they work differently.

Rather than try and warm himself by pressing freezing armor against thin cloth, against skin, he stretches his wings for a moment, showing the two blaster holes in them, and then wraps them around himself, like a cocoon. The talons on the tip click against the ground, as he shivers, but otherwise, he remains quiet, waiting for an answer.

General Kaliero
"<No, it doesn't mean anything. All this time you've spent with me and you still can't recognise sarcasm?>"

Rhys observes Frank wrap himself in his wings, and shivers again, blowing on his hands and rubbing them together. "<Lucky you. Almost makes me wish I had my own monstrous flying appendages.>"

He continues to wait for an answer from the Contact, only getting colder.

Thraxis
"<Yes, lucky me. I can't even fly with them, you know. I'm too heavy, and they're too badly scarred. All this time you've spent with me, and you don't even know that?>" He grins, baring his fangs: It looks more like a threatening snarl than anything else, but to those who know what it means, it's a good sign. "<Besides, they make fitting through doors tricky...>"

"<Is there any way we can turn the heat on? I don't care if it's a tire fire that warms it up, this place is impossibly cold...>" he mutters, shivering once more. His body heat slowly warmed up his armor: his back was still a frozen plate of cold, but the rest of him was gradually warming up...

Tptmanno1
Watching the strange creature wrap his wings around himself Cassius subconciously plays with the dagger he keeps on him, while he isn't very good at fighting with it, I has proven usefull many times, and he is rather fond of it, as it is a family heirloom, the hilt carrys the Brutii Logo, the White Olive branch with a blood red background.
Placing the dagger back in its scabbard, next to his pisto's holtser, He streches out, and puts his hands behind his head and his feet on the vacant seat infront of him.
"Bit Chilly Eh?"
While his flight jacket kept him mostly warm (think Leather jacket almost) His extremities, fingers and toes, kept going numb on him.

Bespin Bart
I wish to note that the only people who cannot understand us are Cassius and Maximillian, the Roman fighter pilots... stick out tongue

"" Eerin says to Cassius, then remembers that he knows nothing of the Geonosian dialect.

Tptmanno1
(we're too good for you!)
"Say what?" Cassius replys to the clicking gibberish coming out of The strange bug-creature's mouth-thing... lazilly turning around to look at him.

Bespin Bart
Well, the Romans WERE brought down by barbarians... wink

"" Eerin sighs, looking to Kyle.

Jazzman_78
("Do not try and harm senior Imperial personnel." - I was waiting for that one.)

Kyle Ragnor sat with his arms folded and his expression neutral as he listened carefully to The Contact go through the mission's details. When he heard Eerin click out his question, he was ready, as always, to quickly translate: "Eerin wants to know when we leave for Pig Worl... Uh, Lanzar." Well, sometimes he tranlated too quickly, as Eerin well knew. Kyle elbowed his friend in the knee in annoyance; but forgetting for the millionth time that carapace beats skin, Kyle spent the next few moments rubbing his un-funny bone.

After Cassius' failed exchange with his large companion, he looked at the flyer, and with a straight face says: "Eerin says that if you are too cold, he would be honored to get that fur coat for you. It would be his pleasure." He threw a quick grin back at the Big Bug, and winked. <Payback.> he clicked under his breath.

Bespin Bart
Eerin clicks a few things out in disgust, and ruffles Kyle's with a large insectoid hand before moving to get the coat for whoever wants it.

"" says Eerin.

Jazzman_78
("Do not try and harm senior Imperial personnel." - I was waiting for that one.)

Kyle Ragnor

Ushgarak
Darn, Jazz has left me in suspense...

"The Empire hasn't actually made a move to occupy Lanzar yet but it can't be far off. Right now there are no forces of any note there, especially whilst hostilities continue and the Senatorial team continues to try and reslve the situations.

"When they do come? We can expect a handful of the new Imperial class Star Destroyers, each carrying a full division of Stormtroopers and heavy assault vehicles and entire TIE Fighter wings. It will be awkward for the Imperials to get them from their ships into a commanding position on the surface, but nonetheless do not kid yourselves that this this is a force that could be seriously resisted for an extended period of time. The Osokans themselves, whilst individually very dangerous, don't have what we would recognise as an army, nor do they have significant amounts of heavy war gear."

Fire
"So when it comes to an assault, we have to take a fighting retreat into account?" Says Maximilliaan for the first time
odd looking place this is. I hope the surface is better, but I'd better don't get my hopes up

Kyle Ragnor
(Okay, what the heck! I didn't make this post. I was in bed before Chris even posted the reply before it. On the other hand, leaving Ush in suspense is only fair, seeing how much he does it to us!)

Kyle looks over at Maximillian. "Um, Flyboy, with that large of an Imperial force, and with what we're taking with us, a fighting retreat is the only option. Well that or a group of heroic deaths, if that suits you. It doesn't me."

Fire
"Look man don't call me Flyboy, I spend my entire life studying combat and military tactics both in the field and on the maps so I know what I am talking about. There is still something that is called Guerilla-Warfare even the most advanced and best drilled army can still lose a battle. How else do you explain the lose of the Julii Legions against the Brutii barbarians. Now I don't intend to fight a Guerilla war, nor do I think it is possible unless those Osokan hunting lodges unify their efforts. But to just rule it out is just a sign of ignorance."

Ushgarak
"The Osokans don't have the mentality for such things, really. However, neither option may be practicable. Trying to meet the armies out in the jungles of Lanzar, aside from the natrual hazards, allows the Empire to use their full war machine, and the Osokans have no air cover.

"The Imperial's main targets will be the cities- more specifically, Lanzar City itself. All the Guolds are there, along with the Guildmaster and the Government; the Senatorial mission is there too. If Lanzar city falls, it's all over.

"Fighting in the cities itself will be different; the Impeirals will have to send the troops in to root out many of the Osokans in infantry combat. Their war machines won't be negated but their effect will be lessened, and Lanzar City does have a shield generator, which will afford some measure of aerial protection."

Jazzman_78
"Sorry, General Flyboy. Didn't mean to strike that nerve there." Kyle ignores any reply and turns to The Contact instead. "So when do we leave? You said something about an entry strategy, well here's one. If the Senator and her Highness can make it an official trip, the body guard/servant idea of theirs would be pretty good. it would allow us to take most, if not all of our personal ships. A few snubfighters as escorts, and a few others carrying support personnel wouldn't be unheard of. There might well be room on their ships for all of us, but really, does Royalty actually want to travel with their servants if they don't have to? No, so those who don't have their own ships can fly with Eerin and me on the 'Laugh'. We keep it looking clean and new, so it should fit the cover story." Kyle finishes with a proud grin on his face, already sure it's the best idea. He casts a sidelong look at Maximillian. "Ignorance. Pftt."

Ushgarak
"That all sounds fine, and you leave whenever you are ready."

Fire
pff, the best that clown can come up with is to steal an idea from someone else and to make it his own... This is going to be one tough trip, good thing Cassius is here
Whispers to Cassius "these people should learn some manners"

General Kaliero
Rhys pipes up again. "There's a few problems with the plan, Mr. Ragnor. First of all, yes, royalty does prefer to travel with their servants; the more servants around, the less they're forced to do for themselves." He glances at the Duchess, quickly amending with a somewhat rogueish smirk, "No offense meant to you, of course, Duchess."

Turning back to Kyle, he continues. "Even disregarding that, an euntourage usually comes with matching ships, and last time I checked, our ships ain't exactly lookin' like factory duplicates. The Black Dawn isn't fit to carry royalty anyway.

"I suggest that we travel to Lanzar in small groups, and meet up once we've landed. We won't look like a force marching in on the disputed planet that way, and then I can take care of some... unfinished business."

Jazzman_78
"Well, this is a pretty motley crew. But my ship is plenty nice enough for servants and bodyguards. Her Highness can ride with the Senator. The rest will fit in the two ships. Four starfighters might be a bit much, but two of them match, so that fits. The other two can ride along or show up separate. Hey, I'm not in charge here, do whatever you want. I just don't want to go in there waving a flag saying 'Look at us! Aren't we suspicious?'"

Ushgarak
"Her Grace here comes from Naboo, not a world noted for mighty armies," says the Contact. "If Senator Klinge-Faust sets up the delegation correctly, then it won't look at all odd if you guys are seen to be employing off-worlders in strange ships as security advisors when going to a troubled world like Lanzar. However, if any of you do wish to travel separately posing as traders and the like, I have no reason to tell you not to."

Jazzman_78
"Well, for Eerin and myself, I think we'll leave that up to the Senator and Her Majesty." Kyle replies, "We can go as 'Security' or sneak in as traders. We're not that bad at fighting, and we've had some experience posing as traders anyway." he adds the last part with a little sarcasm, obviously.

Ushgarak
"When I say 'security'" says the Contact "do remember that I do not mean bodyguards. I mean political advisors. Your delgation will be posing as observers of a peacemaking process; such advisors are commonplace."

General Kaliero
"Excusing Her Grace, but I don't trust politics. Let's not forget that our real duties can't be forgotten in our cover duties. The more "advisors" that aren't advising once the fancy chats start, the more odd we'll look. Frank and I will be going in as traders." He adds, "<You're all right with that, bud, right?>" with a quick look to Frank.

Rhys turns his attention again to Kyle and Eerin. "If you guys do pose as traders, you wanna meet up somewhere in the port? the more eyes we have, the better we can go around poking into Imperial matters."

Ushgarak
"I think I should point out that if you knew anything about politics you would know that saying nothing, or even not turning up to anything, won't look the slightest bit odd. You are personal advisors to a Senator, not members of the committee."

Fire
"Hmm, Cassius and I can do whatever you want us to do. Altho I cannot speak for Cassius I am familiar with my homeworld political manoeuvring on a smaller scale, since my father used to be into city politics."

Tptmanno1
*Whispering back*
"Can't say I expected more from this scruffy group"

*to everyone*
"I'm open to go as an advisor. Traders just wouldn't work too well. Don't think we could pull off that scruffy look too well"

bobcrickett
Duchess Sasha keeps quiet, merely observing for a few moments.

"I would prefer if we were to arrive as a full delegation under Senator Klinge-Faust, myself," she finally says. "That way, there would not be issues with traders being in places that they ought not to be."

Ushgarak
"Oh, well, again," says the Contact, "Lanzar City is a thriving trading port, and the situation is only driving up prices for goods from Lanzar so entrepeneurial merchants are all around."

Alkaselzer

Ushgarak
"Senator, if the Imperials launch an attack on Lanzar City and the Senators are still there, it will be a miracle that we could only attest to the will of the Gods. You won't need to do anything if that happens; the Emperor will have lost. Lanzar would become a starting point for dozens or more of new worlds speaking dissent agains the Emperor. No, before the Emperor did that he would simply have the mission forcibly shut down; very bad for the Empire thought that would be, it would be better than having shots fired in the mission's presence.

"But in any other circumstance in which you get caught up in such fighting... this is a Civil War of our own we are launching. Don't feel you have to hold back. But try not to compromise your political position by being obvious about it.

"Drakkon we are unsure of. For an Osokan he's smart, and he seemed to be understanding of our tacit support for him, but we really know very little about him. I doubt a being who can become Guild Master is a being of delicacy. But one thing is for sure- he's no friend of the Empire."

Alkaselzer
"That is good indeed," Galahad replies. "He will most likely be willing to work with us, whether it regards finding a means of peace with Andran and the Empire, or fortifying Lanzar City."

Galahad rests his hands in his lap.

"I think it would be best if the Duchess and myself should retreat, if we are to be caught up in the fighting. That would include all of you coming with us, as my delegation. Otherwise, I would be of no further use to the Rebellion in the future; the Empire was quick to snatch Fang Zar all those years ago for his disloyalty, they would be quick to snatch me."

Ushgarak
"I doubt they will make such a positive identification of you in the confusion of fighting, Senator, and you can always make excuses. There have been others in your position that have gotten away with it, so lomng as you maintain a sense of proportion."

Alkaselzer
Galahad nods.

"Now, what of the Senatorial mission?"

Ushgarak
"Well, that's really your arena, Senator, not mine, but the core of it is three people strong. This trimvurate of Senators will decide Lanzar's future. As the Senate sees it, anyway."

Alkaselzer
What does Galahad know of the triumvirate? Who are the Senators, and where do they hail from, and what are their personal records and opinions on the matter?

General Kaliero
Turning away from the political talk, Rhys studies Kyle Ragnor and Eerin Chim again. Geonosians were uncommonly seen these days, and an Elite was even more rare. Yet he couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen one before. And paired with a human, no less. Could they be...?

"Excuse me, Kyle, is it? Exactly what sort of business were you in? Before you joined the Alliance, I mean?"

If this is who I think it is...

Ushgarak
Two of the Senators you have little idea about, Galahad. But the leader, Coran Andran, is both famous and powerful. He is a man of very powerful opinion who controls many votes in the Senate. He's made a nuisance of himself in the past, organising a massive protest over the Drobenite issue.

Alkaselzer
Huzzah for PT connections...

What does Galahad know of that issue? Perhaps from it, we can judge just how successful Senator Andran might be.

Ushgarak
Droben was a troubled world that had effectivrly fallen out of Republican control and was endlessly fought over by brutal Warlords leading their private armies. That it got like that was a teastament to Republican cowardice at the time, being unwilling to stay when things turned nasty- a policy Andran vigorously attacked in the days of the Republic.

However, the Empire's solution of military occupation of the planet did not suit him any better, and he tabled a Senatorial motion condemning the action, on the grounds that slavery is no solution to conflict.

A vote was never taken due to procedural issues but it is well known that it would have passed. As it is, several people had to take the official blame for the issue; several Sentorial opponents to Andran- Senators close to the Impeiral authorities- lost out hugely.

Alkaselzer
Good to hear, I suppose. I am sure Andran will do well with the peace treaty, then.

Thraxis
Frank nods, and replies, "<Fine by me...>" He shivers, and continues, "<this room is far too cold... I'm going to freeze to death in here...>" He sounds like he means it, although he's been in colder places, for longer.

(OOC: sorry about the short post- lots a' stuff going on at once)

General Kaliero
Rhys looks his companion over, worry creasing his forehead. He pats a wing comfortingly, but stops when he finds that the scarred membrane seems colder to the touch than the surrounding air. "Frank isn't doing well in here," he announces to the group. "Unless there is anything more to be said, I think we should get off this wretched ice ball. The Empire isn't standing still, expecting us, after all."

I suppose any conversation with this Ragnor can wait until later...

Tptmanno1
"Yes, lets move in quickly before they become suspicious."

"Excuse me, Kyle, is it? Exactly what sort of business were you in? Before you joined the Alliance, I mean?"

If this is who I think it is...

Kyle eyed the man with suspicion. "Yeah, Kyle Ragnor. Do I know you?" He left the question about his past slide; in his line of work, even before joining the Alliance, you had to be careful talking about your exploits.

Ushgarak
"Well," says the Contact, "if you are happy to proceed, then by all means do so- and May the Force be With you."

"Senator," he adds, as the meeting breaks up, "may I have a few words with you in private?"

Fire
"The Force what the hell is that?"

Alkaselzer
Galahad cringes when the Force is mentioned.

Gallagher...

"Merely a bygone religion, Maxmillian," Galahad informs him, and rises to talk to the Contact.

"What do you wish to speak to me of?"

Ushgarak
He takes you away in private, to an adjoining room.

"Alliance Command is very grateful that you have made yourself mroe available, Senator. If you think now that the risk to your career is too great, we would understand if you backed off; set up the mission but did not go yourself. You have the interests of your people to consider, after all."

Jazzman_78
As the meeting seemed to be over, Kyle got up and stretched to get the blood flowing in his cold limbs. He turns to Eerin. "Well, Buddy, what do you think? This going to work? Should we go as 'advisors' or go as traders?"

Alkaselzer
"No, my friend, I will go on this mission," Galahad tells him. "I am no friend of the Empire, though keeping my career intact would be favorable. They have done me great disservice, both myself, my family, and my world. I will go."

Ushgarak
"Good, good..." he says. "In that case... the Alliance has additional orders for you, Senator. Orders that concern a mission of a highly hazardous nature, that could place others in great danger also; hence it will be left to your discretion about who you involve in that mission."

Alkaselzer
Galahad nods.

"What is this mission you speak of?"

Ushgarak
"Well now," says the Contact, sititng down. "None of what I said in there was untrue. All the reasons I have given for going to Lanzar are very valid in the context of our political struggle against the Empire. But... they are not actually the only reasons the Alliance has for interest in that world. In fact, we have an interest that we ebelive goes to the heart of all that is going on here."

ResubianNushi
Kai listens to the feeble squabbling of his comrades and thinks to himself," We're hopeless on this mission "

Jazzman_78
(So, I think we're just waiting to decide who goes with who, right? Seems like pretty much everything that has been discussed is valid. We can split up however we like and it shouldn't seem odd. Let's get rolling, I think we're lagging behind the Imperial thread.)

Alkaselzer
"Oh?" Galahad asks. "What else is Command interested in?"

Ushgarak
The Contact smiles.

"Not that I was around in those times," he says, "but we are looking now as to the days when the then-Chancellor Palpatine had his original relationship with Lanzar. I don't know if you had any insight yourself at the time, though I understand few did, as to what the ultimate purpose of that relationship was?"

-

Any other preparations others want to make before going, make them now. And I mean now, because once you get there it is too late and you will feel dumb if there is other stuff you should have done first.

Aliies
"Before i can ge' outta here..." U'ya said for the first time in her thick and very outlandish accent (think Russian!), "I need a 'and to fix me left-most-upper cooling spike for the acceleration compensata! Me R4 has gone on tha' broke an' won' listen to me!"

(by the way, i changed my ship to an inverted transport/fighter/freighter, same model as the Slave 1 as it was done by a manufacturing company)

"on sec's thought, nah, i'll do it meself..."

"I hates them poli'ical nonsence so I is goin in asa trada... oo' wants ta come wiv?"

Fire
"Cassius, what do you think we should do, I think we could pose as 'advisors', but we might look silly since we are legionairs after all. So what do you think?"

Ushgarak
That's called a 'Firespray', Allies.

Alkaselzer
(Would Galahad know anything? I myself as a player do... stick out tongue )

Ushgarak
You did hear some rumours about the Osokans being used as death squads to murder certain opponents, yes. A long way in, though.

And you are also quite sure now that they were used to hunt Jedi.

Galahd vaguely remembers the Bureau (it was set up by the Senate, after all) but, like most, never really made the link. In retrospect, the Bureau as a foundation tool of Imperial power- especially the use of uniforms- is more obvious.

Tptmanno1
"I think as long as we don't draw too much attntion to ourselves or get into lengthy conversations with anyone about being advisors we should be ok. And If you think of the alternative, we would make even worse traders."

Ushgarak
Must be said, Kyle- part of your mind is thinking along the lines of the kind of prices stuff out of Lanzar must be fetching right now... I mean, you are sure there'll be time for that kind of thing whilst the chit-chat goes on.

Fire
"You are probably right Cassius"

Jazzman_78
Kyle was just asking his companion Eerin what he thought about the mission when it hit him. The man who seemed to recognize him. He just realised who he was. He walked over to him.

"I saw that oversized fighter out there. That's the Black Dawn, isn't it? You're Rhys Kyril, 'The Hutt Bomber' aren't you? Well, I'm Kyle Ragnor, and I'm pleased to meet anyone who can screw a Hutt and live to brag about it everywhere." He sticks out his hand.

(I get your hint Ush, and I'm going to try to drag Rhys along with us.)

ResubianNushi
"I believe we should deicde who is going with who. I have a starship, and so does most of us. I would rather fly alone, but if there is no other way, some others can come along on my ship".

(I get your hint Ush, and I'm going to try to drag Rhys along with us.)

Rhys grins broadly as he vigorously shakes Kyle's hand. "I'm the 'Hutt Bomber' now, huh? Got a nice ring to it." He strokes the Dawn lovingly. "Yeah, this is the Black Dawn alright. Got me outta more scrapes than I can count. No idea how the hell old she is, but she's still a solid hunka' junk as ever." He raps on the fuselage, which creaks slightly with the light impact. Rhys shoots it a dirty look and grins at Kyle again, changing the subject quickly and forcefully. "Your ship, though. It's the Last Laugh." He snaps his fingers as the pieces fall into place. "You're the guy wanted by Nobog Corp., ain't you? I've heard a bit about you."

(Rhys will have no problems sticking with Kyle and Eerin on Lanzar, but he's not going anywhere without the Dawn.)

Alkaselzer
"Essentially it was the founding tool of Imperial power," Galahad says. "Death squads against criminals, mostly, they established it after some terrorist incident on Malastare itself so that the Jedi would not be used. And then, they turned the Osokans on the Jedi, after their supposed rebellion..."

Galahad spaces out for a moment.

"But yes, I'm sorry I did not exert enough influence to keep it from passing. I thought it wasn't a wise move, even if Osokans were effective for taking down the kind of plagues that terrorists represented to the Republic. Besides, they would have been difficult to control, in my opinion, should we want to them shut down. This is probably what Palpatine is doing now, with this strike."

Ushgarak
"So we thought at first," says the Contact. "Now we are not so sure. What I am about to tell you is one of the greatest secrets of the Alliance, Senator. You must not ask how I know or for any of the details, do you understand?"

Alkaselzer
"Perfectly."

Ushgarak
"In that case it is my pleasure to inform you that the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is alive. He is at a safe location waiting his time to come back out into the open again."

Alkaselzer
Galahad blinks a few times. "Kenobi? Alive?"

What would Galahad know of Kenobi?

Ushgarak
A famous Clone Wars General and a member of the Jedi Council? The man who killed a Sith Lord, whose mission rescued the Chancellor (which seemed a fair idea at the time), and who killed General Grievous? His exploits are legendary!

You thought he died on Utapau, betrayed after killing the General.

Alkaselzer
Well! I didn't know if EVERYONE would know that.

"Such a legendary Jedi!" Galahad exclaims, after a few moments. "His efforts during the Clone Wars were remarkable! He essentially ended them with his defeat of the Droid General. I daresay, how did he survive the Purge? And he must be getting on in years. Is he with Alliance Command? Pah, silly me, why should I ask? It is not for me to know."

Ushgarak
"As I said, I cannot anser such questions as to how he survived, but rest assured, he knows of the efforts of the Alliance. When the time is right, he will come and aid us.

"But it IS good news, isn't it? Just the very word 'Jedi' lifts hope. It reminds us of better times. I am too young to even remember them, but even so I somehow feel the sheer goodness the concept of 'Jedi' brings- the only organisation that remained a beacon of light in the Republic's dying days.

"The Emperor knew that, of course. He knew that the Jedi would have to be snuffed out in their entirity. And I think he knew that the very hope they would bring to us, was worth even more than their prowess on the battlefield and wisdom in strategy.

"Hence the Osokans. With so many Jedi in so many places, he must have known that not all of them would die in his deadly ambush. He tried to make it as full as possible- the Jedi Temple sent a signal recalling all Knights as the war ended; drawing them into the trap. kenobi himself disabled the signal, and so the Purge, led by Lord Vader, had to begin.

"The Osokans were to be a major weapon in that purge. As it was, due to complicated circumstances, the Civil War on Lanzar had started by then and the Emperor's personal contact on Lanzar, the old Guildmaster, was dead. No more of his deadly hunting teams were being produced.

"Yet there were still many such teams in the Galaxy, and they were put to use. The Osokan programme did reach partial fruition. It slowy died, withered as some of its number died and were not replaced, or gave up their work and returned to Lanzar to fight in the war. We believe that the whole deal with Matadan was the Emperor's last attempt to hold proper control over Lanzar. Now that has failed, he has no more patience for the world.

"But yet, for many years, Osokan hunting teams under Vader's direction scoured the Galaxy to track down those Jedi who survived the Clone Wars. Dark times indeed. But they never found Kenobi."

Alkaselzer
"Ah yes, Vader," Galahad sighs. "A dark troublesome figure he is, must have given the Jedi quite a fright when he was leading teams of Osokans about the Galaxy. But Kenobi escaped, eh? That is excellent news, I hope to see him return soon. He could greatly booster the Rebellion..."

Galahad sighs. "So, Emperor Palpatine does not want the Lanzar Senatorial mission to succeed I take it? I would suppose he would rather just obliterate it."

(Galahad doesn't know that Palpatine is a Sith Lord, right?)

Ushgarak
Actually, Vader's powers are rather legendary, as his his position as Sidious' apprentice, and the use of the title 'Darth' and so on. Most clued up people are pretty sure of it.

"Yes, he would rather oblitterate it... but his haste, and the potential troubles it could cause, are unusual. But we know why.

"You see, the Osokans take their hunting very seriously. Very seriously indeed. And their BIG hunts, the most serious of all. Such hunting is at the heart of their culture. And somewhere in Lanzar city, there is a great room of records, where they keep all their Hunting information on parchment. And ONE of these records* contains the details of every important Hunt they have ever been on- the target, the location, and how it went. From the first dead Sauropod to mighty foes opf the modern age, thousands of years of Lanzar's greatest history is here.

"That list contains the name of every Jedi they were sent to hunt down. Now... we have information... and we are very sure of it... that not every Jedi on that list has been accounted for.

"And yes, this is what I am saying, Senator. Some of the Jedi... other than Kenobi... might still be alive!"

*which has a name, that I have forgotten, and will get to you ASAP

Alkaselzer
(You did that with Lanzar itself when the Osokans were introduced... stick out tongue )

"Really? That is marvelous news!" Galahad says. "Surely they are hidden incredibly well, though. How many, and any notable figureheads?"

Ushgarak
"We don't know. We have no information at all, we just have an indication that the Purge was never finished. Oh, have no doubt, we have thought of looking for Jedi before. But there were thousands of Jedi, Senator! All the leads as to their exiostence end the day of their betrayal! It would take us CENTURIES to follow all the leads we have trying to track these vague possibilites down. We need something certain, Senator. We need names.

"But how could we ever get names? The details of the Purge are all held inside the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. Untouchable. Thje possiiblity was useless to us. Until now."

He's getting very excited now, and you can see why.

"Senator, understand me. This record of the Osokans contains the ONLY other reference to the Jedi that might be still alive. It will have the name of every Jedi that the Empire has failed to kill. We MUST have that list! If we have it, we can start to search for them. And if we find Jedi, Senator... well. I am sure you can iamagine the possibilities, in all areas.

"But the Emperor must have realised our plan. Hence his haste- he's going to close this loophole. Once those armies move in, the chance will be lost forever."

Alkaselzer
"Then we must prevent his plans!" Galahad says, with great passion, as if speaking to the Senate rather than just a boy contact. The realization is stunning to him. "My son was a Jedi himself; I do not know if he survived the Purge, but he was a bright boy and powerful from what I know, so I would be willing to bet that he did. I would have no greater joy in the Galaxy than to retrieve that list for the Rebel Alliance, to not only find my son, but to find all that remain of the Jedi Order."

Ushgarak
"But this is difficult, Senator. For a start, that list is sacred to the osokans. Outsiders cannot see it. We cannot ask you to perform immoral acts to get this list whilst you are acting in the Osokan's interests. Yet somehow, you must find a way to acquire it. We can offer no help, only to depend on your skills.

"And the RISK, Senator. Understand, doing this will make you a personal enemy of the Emperor, not just a political opponent. As will happen with everyone you involve."

"That is a risk I am willing to take," Galahad says. "Before it was a matter of keeping Lanzar from being blown to pieces; now it is a matter of finding my son, and giving a greater hope to the Rebellion and the Galaxy as a whole."

"Yeah, that's our ship. I started out as 'Freighter 1138', I'm it's second pilot. When The Corp. and I, uh, parted ways, I kept it as balance due on that last run. They tried to cheat me out of my job and my life, but here I am, and I got the Last Laugh. Literally." Kyle grinned as he spoke, he liked telling that story.
"So, they say there's room for a little mayhem on Lanzar. Wanna put ourselves in the middle of it? That, and I hear there might be some interesting good to be had. Hey, if the Imps end up destroying the place, anything we can get away from there will be worth a fortune. What do you think?" he sticks out his hand again. "Partners?"

General Kaliero
Rhys laughed at Kyle's story, and replied with, "I'm always up for something that'll make me some credits and hurt the Empire at the same time. Plus, I've got a few things that need to be sold before certain ears catch wind of them, if you know what I mean."

Rhys shakes Kyle's hand gladly. "Partners then. I'll warn you though, Lady Luck's unappreciated sister likes to follow me around. You stay too close, and your ship may get as beat up as the Dawn here."

(It hit me as I was typing. I just couldn't help it.)

"Eerin and I don't mind a challenge, as far as Luck goes, but if anything scratches the 'Laugh' I'll scratch it right back. What do you think Eerin, ready for some mischief and money-making?"

(Ush, that makes me wonder something. If it comes up, how much money would we have on us? Is it something we might need to keep in mind?)

Ushgarak
For most of you, very little money ay all.

"Very well then, Senator," says the Contact. "You have your orders from command. Execute them as you see fit."

(OOC: You... you took the obligatory 1138! And this soon! I wanted that... laughing out loud ) Frank walks up and over, still freezing in his cold armor, and then places a chilly gauntlet on his friend, Rhys's, shoulder. "Praknas?" he asked, the tone sounding like a cross between barely concealed amusement and faked sadness, "buk aih fahtgh 'e wre praknas!" At this point, he couldn't hide the amusement, and smiled, showing massive, glistening teeth.

Frank clears his throat, a sound that resembles a cross between a lion's roar and a human vomiting, and then extends that gauntletted hand towards Kyle, "<Hi, I'm Frank. Can you understand me?>" He says in his native, tribal tongue, the one that had taken Rhys ages to learn.

Then, his red eyes flicker over to the other clearly-nonhuman in the group, and he couldn't help but grin again: it seems that every free trader must have their large smashy killy alien. At least, Rhys did, and if 'Frank' was any judge of another race's combat prowess, this other trader was, too: the alien in front of him didn't look like it had a habit of, say, picking wildflowers. He chuckled, thinking that, to the outside view, it would probably look like it was all part of the package: 'Here's your ship, here's your alien of slaughtering death, here's your cargo, now go.'

U'Ya looked back towards the open air-lock and hoped someone woud join her, she was quite lonely and her R4 was still spitting curses at her in code, seeing as she did tie him into the storage racks above her and wrapped him up in thick thermal blankets in the attempt to quell his endless squeals.

She leant back in her seat and fondled with a small stim-pack, disguised as a Bacta-vessel its contents comprised pirmarily of Glitterstim...

she only hoped that this batch did not have any Vroaktil extract in it (A powerful heart-stimulant that could incapacitate a Wookie in small doses) like the last time. U'Ya closed her eyes as she thrust the tip against her leg and depressed the mechanism; colors whirled overhead momentarily before the rush of absolute invincibilty and superiority hit her, she felt ready to pull the ears off a gundark...

The air lock began to close as the auto pre-flight check began, the Shard Of Sapphire's engines roared into life...

"Torenniaka amraok ileimaou, stoicheria varaoucce..." the computer said in her native tongue

"Let's leave dis rock..." she said to herself, literally punching in the throttle.

She drew up the rear view-screen, looking back to see if any of the others had begun departure. Why waste time when the Imperials draw closer and closer to launching their scheme, 'why let them waste all those lovely profits awaiting me on Lanzar!' she found herself thinking.

(by the way, forget the Russian bit, i practiced it vocally and it doesn't work right; try a mid-britt-like accent instead!)

Jazzman_78
Kyle turns to the other large alien in the room, and offers a handshake. "I understand you just fine, Frank. But I hope you do okay understanding basic, because I could never get the hang of your species tongue. Oops! I almost forgot." Kyle steps to the side to let Eerin come closer. "This is Eerin Chim, my partner. He's helped me cause more trouble than I can tell you about." He address the Geonosian. "What do you think, Pal. Wanna hang out with these two for a bit, see if we can give the Imps a headache?"

"Those Brutii, Never turn down a challege do they. He shoulda checked my drink, I was drinking grape juice all night! Haha, we left the poor bastard with the tab too.."

Ushgarak
We are more or less all ready to go; I'll need your fnailised transport plans, what ships are going with whom in which and posing as what?

Tptmanno1
Uhh can our fighters store on Bobcrickette's player's ship?
If so thats how I'm going and I would assume Maximus too...
But if not we're flying them, and posing as advisors.

Ushgarak
Oh Lordy no, none of you have ships large enough to carry fighters. Maybe to have a fighter or two attached, but no docking bay.

Alkaselzer
"I will do so," Galahad says. "Does Command have any suggestions?"

ResubianNushi
I think we'll divide into our three ships:

My ship is a bomber/fighter, so it would probably only hold me and two others, and then we have two other ships that can hold alot of people. So I'd say I fly alone, with everyone else divided up between the other ships.

Jazzman_78
(Well, Rhys adn Frank are going to join Kyle and Eerin on the planet surface, posing as traders. We're each flying our own ships. Others are welcome to join us, I'm sure. It seems Aliies character has already left for the planet, according to her last post. Sounded like she was planning on posing as a trader as well. I guess us smugglers are going to stymie the Imps in whatever way we can, unless someone has orders otherwise.
Galahad and Sasha can just speak up if they have other plans, as far as I'm concerned. I just wanted to have this one ready to go just in case.)

Tptmanno1
Me and Maximus are taken care of, we have our fighters.

The Shard's sensors indicated she was now twelve thousand Kiiyrns (roughly 1 kilometer = 1.6 Kiiyrns) from her point of departure, U'ya began mapping the hyperspace telemetry into the onboard computers meanwhile activating the ship's chameleon dissillusionment field, changing the color of the hull (A crude cloaking device that still left you on sensors but rendered the ship near-invisible to the naked eye), she had it installed as she didn't like to make a name for herself; to make peolple forget her once she left.

U'ya wasn't very well known and she preferred it that way, popularity or infamousy often drew unwanted attention, such as Imperials...

She was also surprisingly adept at blending in, even if she didn't realize it. Imperials had crossed her many times, she had killed numerous troopers and yet they never know who she is, those who did called her 'The Sapphire Ghost'.

She finished her input and powered the h-drive, only to receive the dreaded low-rumble and momentary kickback...

The lone smuggler got out of her chair and floated towards the engine bay door (as she had disabled the artificial gravity due to the fact that the ship's design confused her sometimes) and oped it, a leathery-mass of muscle and chitin growed at her with a white-foamed mouth as she had interupted it's feast of the throttle control linkage.

"FETHING MYNOCKS!!!!" she screamed as she whipped out her long-barreed pistol and blasted the winged creature from this dimension.

She could swear that R4 was laughing in code at her, she got out a hydro-spanner and first washed the foamy goodness from the cables before replacing the whole wiring system of that section.

If she ever saw the contact again she would give him a little more than just a piece of her mind as it had obviously come from his little ice-ball.

U'ya sighed heavily before swimming through the weighlessness towards the flight control blister and refitting her crash-webbing, "Lets try dis dance again..." she whispered, pulling on the activation nob to initiate the jump.

Her stomach seemed to climb into her throat as the stars around became solid lines, her jerri-rigging had actually boosted the output of the internal thrusters and was about one and a half times faster.

To say the least it gave her quite a rush, literally...

(I hope that everyone doesn't mind my sometimes long posts, i'm a story writer from =R-A= Studios and i like to put as much as i can in one post, just to add detail so you know exactly what's happening)

Rhys grins at Frank's remark. "Anyone ever say I could only have one partnet, Frank? Besides, we're not just partners, we're buddies, right?"

He regards Eerin. "Not seen many Geonosians before, and I never could get the hang of your language. All those clicks and whirrs tend to trouble my tonsils, you see." He grins apologetically.

Ushgarak
"Not really," says the Contact. "We're hoping you will negotiate for it, using the help you are giving the Osokans as leverage, but we have no gurantee that will work, considering that this is an issue at the heart of their culture. But you only need time to look at it.

"Only in the direst emergencies- which is to say, the city is about to fall and the Emperor will just get it anyway- should you consider stealing it. Better we do thst than fail, but best we don't have to resort to it at all.

"I think your mission can be best summed up in one line, Senator- Don't let Lanzar die in vain."

That's all I have to say for all of this part. Is Operation 'Certain Failure' ready to go? One of you is already off, I notice!

('cos yup, it's the good guys that have to plan in the face of authorities now! And it's never gone that well around here before...)

Tptmanno1
Wow, what an optomistic code name for our mission!
I feel really secure!

General Kaliero
Well, it's certainly better than Operation 'Imminent Doom' or Operation 'Any Last Words?'...

ResubianNushi
Kai decides to get going now, as to save some time. He enters the Shirrka and starts towards Lanzar.

(I'd suggest everyone else leave too).

Jazzman_78
Kyle looks around and sees that the meeting is breaking up. He speaks to his companions, "Well, it looks like this party's over. Better get ready for the next one. Eerin, let's get the ship ready. Rhys, Frank, we'll see you on Lanzar."

(Rebels, let's learn from the Darkies and get a solid plan on this one. So far everyone has come up with their own thing. Any solid plans once we get to Lanzar? Alkaselzer, I think you're pretty much in charge. Any specific orders?)

General Kaliero
Hey, I was a Darkie! *grumbles*

Rhys, Frank, Kyle, and Eerin are all posing together as traders. Rhys, at least, has plenty of stuff in his cargo area to pull off the cover, though he'd rather most of it stayed out of Imperial concern. If we need to actually deliver a cover story to officials, Either Rhys or Kyle could do it, because they have similar scores for that area of expertise. Rhys still has some tricks up his sleeve in case we need to prove the story. I dunno what we'd be trading on a world like Lanzar, though.

Tptmanno1
Well I know for a fact that negociating with the Osokans is going to be a pain in the ass. so we may want to incorporate that

ResubianNushi
I'll be posing as a mercenary there to help out the Imperial Forces.

Alkaselzer
The Imperials are not there yet; that, and they would have hired you. For example, the bounty hunters that Vader calls in- Fett, IG-88, and so on- were all notified and brought aboard to pursue Han.

I would like to keep the group together as a whole. Thing is, I'm not sure how hard it would be for Galahad and Sasha to pose as traders, seeing as they are noblemen and probably more recognizable. Also, it might be hard to get into a position to meet with Drakkon if we are supposedly traders. Then again, the authorities wouldn't be keeping tabs on a group that is supposedly the escorts of Senator Klinge-Faust.

Now that I think of it, I think we should work on hammering out the flaws in a 'posing as traders' plan. Lanzar is big on trading, it would be an easy way in.

Jazzman_78
Um, the Imperial Forces there might catch on to that one. It'd probably be best to stick with one of our groups. If you don't want ot pose as an advisor, maybe you can join us 'traders'. Hired bodyguard or something. There's also that 'secret mission Galahad has yet to assign, but I don't know how he plans to work that in to the mission.

ResubianNushi
Hmm. This might work:

I pose as the Senator's personal bodyguard and our two friendly alien warrior will be my henchmen of sorts.

Bespin Bart
"," Eerin says to Kyle. ""

(I think Alkaselzer suggested his basis for plans, fellas...)

Jazzman_78
Well, the bodyguard thing will work, but the two Alien Warriors are already going with Rhys and Kyle, since they're already partners with the smugglers. It's in their backgrounds... and the earlier posts.

Alkaselzer
If we are posing as traders, there might not be any need for supposed bodyguards.

We just need to look the part, if we don't already.

Ushgarak
Yup, Galahad has to think about how the secret task will be worked on.

Alkaselzer
Indeed.

The thing is, I'm not sure how many people I should let in on it. None of us are friends to the Empire, but none of us would want the Empire screaming down our backs. Galahad has decided he will undertake the task for more personal reasons, but he would not know what the case is with the others.

He will probably hold a conference with his motley crew.

Jazzman_78
I thought you were actually going as yourself. Sort of as a Senatorial observer. Likewise the Dutchess. Some would go as your 'retinue' of advisors or bodyguards or whatnot, while the rest would go as traders. Maybe I missed something... I guess not much has actually been settled on.

ResubianNushi

We better call back that one person then.

Ushgarak
It is pretty much impossible for Galahad to pose as anyone. He's a notable politician and could not get away with it.

Alkaselzer
I suppose that could work. That way, the majority of the team would be less noticeable. If we had all gone in one group as Senatorial observers and their advisors and so on, it would have been dreadfully noticeable.

Galahad would like to make contact with Zalandos, btw, Ush.

Ushgarak
That can be easily arranged before you get there. Any planning anyone wants to do in advance can be done easily.

I highly recommend that you guys consider what you actually want to do, at all stages, on Lanzar, and make sure you are in a position to do them.

ResubianNushi
Kai jumps out of his ship, trying to figure out what's holding up the others. "When are we leaving?" He asks in the general direction of anyone.

Jazzman_78
(Well, Rhys, Kyle and the Aliens want to cause trouble for the Imps. I think we want to stay out of the political side. Also, if we get noticed, we're not overtly connected to the Senator and his party. I can't speak for the other, but I'm looking for a fight, eventually. I was thinkin g about sabotage and spying sort of activities as well, but I really wasn't sure what it's going to be like 'till we get there. That could be our part.)

Ushgarak
You had better plan on a contingency basis, then. Waiting until you are there and then trying to work things out might backfire on you.

Jazzman_78
(Well, uh... Ok, what do you others think we should plan on? I just hit a wall. Thraxis, Gen. Kaliero, BB, you guys are all RP veterans, what do you think? I'm really not sure what's down there to mess with, except the Imperial players. I just figured we'd see what they were up to and try our best to mess it up. Plans, anyone?)

General Kaliero
Well, the most basic of sabotage actions would be to get into any Imperial bases (temporary or established) and work on disabling transmitters, defense systems, and the like, as well as getting any information on Imperial movement that we can.

If we pose as traders, then we should have a fairly easy way of entering whatever Imperial post is in the city by saying that, as traders, we want to register our selling location on Lanzar. I imagine that such an action would be fairly common, as it would both allow others to find a seller, and the Empire keeps track of trade.

After getting in, then we simply sneak around the area disabling stuff (like Obi-Wan on the Death Star).

As for getting out, that will be simple as long as we do the sabotage well. If something goes wrong, though... (the far more likely possibilty) I dunno how we'd get out.

Ush, objections, hints?
