Hey people,

I was just interested to know what would be the dominate choice(s) of higher education here on KMC. Wondering if there would be some kind of obvious choice or wether or not it would be pretty general so cast your vote

PS: for obvious reasons I made the choices as wide as possible, since I tried to include everything.
PS2: if I left something obvious out, please let me know

Fire
I myself study politocology (as it is aparantly called in dutch, I assume it is about the same in Enlgish), the science of politics

I lecture in Biology? does that count? My areas of interest are Human Performance/Sports Science with particular emphasis on the role and effects of methylated hormones, I also like enzymes and genetics.

Lana
My major is Psychology....I've yet to pick a minor.

My major used to be art, as anyone who knows me will know, art is a major part of my life, but I switched because I realized that if it became something that was an obligation instead of something I do for fun, I would get bored and lose interest with it, which I never want. So instead of becoming my career, it is just going to remain a hobby - albeit one I am paid for.

Darth Macabre
What is it about Genetics that interests you?

I have always enjoyed Genetics, ever since I first studied Gregor Mendel at school. I think its the fact that potentially Genetics provides so many possible futures. I am a Scientist but also a shameless Sci Fi fan. As a biologist Genetics offers the most ridiculous possible advancement in my mind and i'm sure (judging from the novels published) many others provided by Biology.

not going to uni, theres nothing i'm passionate about that can be converted into a uni course, the film courses that i saw were bollocks that only led to one kind of job and if everyone passes how theres not going to be more jobs available, only me and 30 other people from uni fighting for the few there are.

Or any building society for that matter.

I don't think English should be with the other languages, because it's not the same concept.

That applies to any language which is your own, obviously.

I selected "social science" as that is where I feel History would fit. Some of the topics I have become more and more interested in, however, in particular German Reformation Studies, lend themselves to Theology and Philosophy. Even these intellectual developments always have a range of effects on the population at large, of course.

It is my intent to make a career out of this topic, and I seem to be off to a good enough start. Here's to the better part of six years left in the University. thumb up

I will graduate on physics at the end of 2006, and I intend to specialize on quantum mechanics and work like a researcher in this area, but microelectronics is also interesting, I would love to do something in this area like developing new hardware, and such. I also know enough about mysticism, metaphysics, religion, and history. So who will hire me !?

well . . . thanks! i'm canadian though, so do i still qualify for your gratitude? big grin

i've a BA and a BEd. majored in psych (neural psych my last 2 years but grad school was too much $ and i didn't really want to move away)

i've been a teaching assistant/research assistant at the university of windsor (computational neuropsych -- my prof was working on a computer simulation of alzheimer's -- it was a lot of fun!)

i've taught at the high school level (i have a minor teachable in science) and am currently teaching at a grade school - grade 4 -- because the little kids are a lot of fun! big grin

i'm also a published author (my first story in a print mag (a small, literary fantasy mag) is due out in february) the mag is called MYTHIC CIRCLE and the story is a dark fanasty short based on the faust legend. i've had a few shorts published in various places on the web and had a novel agented but he didn't sell it. sad it's is still trying to find a home. life's been a bit complex lately though so i've done little writing. but (if i can get off this damn forum!) i hope to get back into the swing of things soon!

damn, prolly too much info . . . embarrasment

oh well . . . big grin

After years of Community College and dropping out of school. I've come to the decision that I'm not good at anything. Except for the skills I'd learn in the cable business for the past 5 years. I'm in my late 20's and I don't see myself going back to school for anything. I got all my units for a AA degree, but we all know that means cracker jacks in today's world.

Psychology is a compulsary within Criminology in the first year, so ive done it then - its not my major. could have been, if i picked Criminology and Psychology, but i chose sociology instead messed no regrets though! happy
