I have seen many opinions on this subject on various forums but not being a member of any of these I can only watch in horror as some people slate the best films and let the awful films get away with....well being awful.
I have to say that OHMSS is one of the best. It is a bit different to the others, granted, but in a good way. It has the best music of any bond film and doesn't just rely on mindless action with no real purpose to make people watch it. Diana Rigg is also perhaps the best ever bond girl. Classy, elegant and sexy yet still vunerable and innocent.
So on all of the above points it stands to reason that the worst bond film is Die Another Day. Although bond films never have amazing plots this stupid sci-fi rubbish is pushing it a bit to far. The film has a few comendable moments like the begining part in which he is being tortured but these parts ae few and far between. The film is littered with faults such as a super powerful sunlight laser thing that can cut straight through hundreds of feet of solid ice but not vapourise a plane? Hmm nice and realistic. And I don't even want to think about the worst cgi affects ever on that wave. I mean they must of watched it before they released it did they not think "hang on this wave looks awful and like some cgi from a film 10 years ago" honestly pc games look more real! The music is the worst of any bond film. It's shocking. But all these faults still aren't as bad as Halle Berry's performance. She is the opposite of Diana Rigg in every way. Not elegant or classy in any way. She ismore of the films focus than Bond is! Bond women aren't meant to be hardcore like bond. Bond doesn't need a sidekick. He is the one man army.
Anyways come on guys how can you disagree?

bogen
the old one were it's not sean conery it's some other bloke, that one was supposed to have been the worst, OFFICIALY!! big grin

one of the ones this guy was in

Johnnyboy666
No it's meant to be officially one of the best. If you can say any opinion is official. I don't think Lazenby was the best bond but he wasn't bad. Better than Timothy Dalton that's for sure (although I did enjoy his films). But what do you lot think of Die another day? Please don't tell me I'm on my own by thinking that it is pants.

Clovie
DaD? I don't accept it to being a Bond movie schmoll plus I hate Halle anyway confused

Johnnyboy666
Amen Clovie! It really is the worst don't you think?

Clovie
DUH?
It is just horrible.. but Moonrakes wasn't the bestest...either..

Johnnyboy666
Nah moonraker wasn't the most fantastic of the lot but you have to kind of love it because it is a classic. And although it wasn't the best bond film it was definately "a bond film". DaD could of been just another shit action film.

Clovie
yeah. I know.
That is why i don't count DaD in stick out tongue

Hit_and_Miss
this, George Lazenby and its movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, have gone down as the worst movie...

roger moore was great as bond...

That goes without Question. He brought a lot of humor to the role and as much as I like Connery,I liked Moore the best. as far as the topic goes, yeah I would say either Die another day or On her majestys secret service would be the worst Bond movie ever.Reason being Halle Berry not only sucks as an actress but is ugly as hell as well and of course it has the horrible Pierce Brosnan as Bond.Lazenby was horible as Bond as well and the script was equally as horrible so yeah its a toss up between those two movies as the worst Bond movie ever.

Hit_and_Miss
After watching DAD again on tv today I think I can list about 5 reasons It sux'd...

1) Plot is almost identical to golden eye.. Satalite in space shooting death rays at us??? come on....
2) bond girl... No classy, average sexy, far to much of a tomboy agent... We need pretty girls who don't really do action... And crime of crimes Trys to rip off the Dr.no "Out of the water" shot... Dr.no was Perfect....Why try to re do it with a sub par one??
3) bond.... captured..... for a year???? Hes frickin J2daB!!!! He only lets himself get captured when he wants to sneak in...
4) no interesting gadgets... wows a disapearing car... Oh noes!! the one ring to rule all the glass!!! give me the exploding milk bottles the KGB had anyday!!!
5) too Much focus on the special effects... I don't need Computer graphics unless your trying to recreate middle earth... Sure..Touch up the bond gals to perfection.. but try to create some of the sceens... That way you can half believe that I might, 1/109909839 chance actually happen!
6) over exploading car chases... Soo many explosions, but no actual damage... lets have the car and boat chases like the old days!... Roger moore in the speed boat pissin off that backward hick sherif, Priceless...

6.... ok 5+1.... ah... the hate has been lifted... Bring on Casino royal...

silver_tears
And as much as I dislike DaD, I plan on refuting some of your points stick out tongue

1. They're not death rays. It's sun rays that he reverts claiming that crops can be grown all year long now to the best of my recollection.
2. Christmas Jones anyone? She's the biggest tom boy out there in all the bond films, I thought Halle was extremely sexy specially in the orange bikini stick out tongue
3. I thought that added to the appeal, he's not a super hero you know, him being captured makes him more appealing and human imo.
4. Umm the car, the surfboard, his knife that turns into a GPS transmitter, Jinx's cell phone that's a detonator, his sonic ring, and the device he uses to breathe underwater. They're more subtle this time around.
5. If you're talking about the car, I believe, am not too certain though, that it's actually possible for that to occur.

And as a side note, I really enjoyed the extreme sport stunts, like his snowboarding stint if you will, and the surfing aspect.
But yes, I quite disliked DaD, but having not seen all of the other bonds I can't really decide if it's the worst, it had some interesting moments imo. I was just so disappointed with Brosnan's aging, it was as if he was no longer trying no

P.S bestest is not a word, best is the superlative smile

Johnnyboy666
Ahh how can you defend Dad? If it didn't have James Bond in it then it would of been a massive failure. The movie can't stand as a film in it's own right. It is really bad. Why must you all hate OHMSS? It's really good. Great music score and the story and action was actually half believable. The classic ski chase is legendary. Lazenby did quite a good job, better than Dalton. Dalton had all the suavness or a camel. And Sean connery and Peirce are the best Bonds without a doubt. Roger more is a bit too cheesy for me. Hell he's like a used car salesman!

Johnnyboy666
Just as a further, I think the Actors who play bond have to have a certain X factor. All the actors other than Dalton had it and I don't think you can take that away from the others. Not even from Lazenby. (I don't actually hate Dalton, he's just nopt as good as the rest.)

silver_tears
I think Dalton's the best looking from the others, no word of a lie. Right after Pierce he's my number 1.

Plus I'm defending DaD because some of the reasons don't hold water, yes it is one of the worse films, but things like gadgets and such were in it, you just had to pay closer attention.

Personally the only reason I really didn't like it was because it was too big, too Hollywood, other than that I can still watch it once in a while. smile

Hit_and_Miss
Lazey was sooo good as bond he only needed to do 1...laughing roll eyes (sarcastic)

Shows how great OHMSS was...

silver_tears
Have you even done one? stick out tongue

yerssot
I have to say, he got restrained by the director in this movie

I mean, I absolutely hated that when his wife died he didn't even cry, turns out he did it the first time but the director orded him to not do that since "bond doesn't cry"

Johnnyboy666
Lazenby was going to do other Bond films but because OHMSS was soo successful but because of this Lazenby demanded loads of money and people decided he demanded too much. So he was caned for financial reasons. It wasn't his performance that was the deciding factor. Bosses wanted to keep him.And as for DaD there is no doubt that the gadgets are there but they don't add anything to the poor film. They were there for the sake of being there.

Hit_and_Miss

Johnnyboy666
This was Lazenby's first acting role so cut him a little slack, your quote doesn't really suggest unproffesionalism at all, and surely the quotes you have found suggest that people wanted lazenby but he turned them down? So he was so bad that he was offered a massive contract?

Johnnyboy666
Also if I am not mistaken Lazenby did many of the stunts in the film himself. Shows some dedication if you ask me. Bottom line is he did a good job and most people seem to think so. It seems him demanding too much money is incorrect and I do apologise but still he turned down a massive contract. If he was as bad as you say why would he be offered this contract?

Hit_and_Miss
I think they offered him before he filmed...

Look at the movies he did afterwards!.... Nothing....

yerssot
errrr... THEY offered HIM a 7-movies-contract, but HE refused since he thought Bond couldn't get through an age associated with Woodstock.

Hit_and_Miss
yes... I admit.. they offered him 7 movies... But look how talented an actor he was... He did jack shit after bond!!!

yerssot
I actually wanted to point out that it wasn't due to financial reasons he called it a day

Johnnyboy666
Well can we all agree at least that DaD was by far the worst bond film so far?

Eis
Moonraker!

Any of the Bond movies after The Spy Who Loved are all rubbish. Pierce is a good actor but his Bond films have been the most ridiculous. Die Another Day was one big cliche from start to finsh and how the invisible car got beyond the script stage amazes me.

Etrigan
Die Another Day was so unrealistic Bond. It just didn't suit the Bond style at all. More sci-fi crap.

It sucked incredibly badly. What the hell was up with that music?

general-pain
Diamonds are Forever.

Talk about boredom.

Darth Macabre
Moonraker...With out a doubt....Sci-Fi much?

Eis
DaD gets too much shit from the fans, imo.
It's not a good movie but it's not nearly as bad as many people say it is. I think if it wasn't a Bond movie it wouldn't get half the shit it gets.

Oh and to those who think Halle Berry isn't attractive, you're crazy... The scene where she gets out of the water in that bikini... Wow. stick out tongue

That reminded me (which they intended) of Dr. No.

That's the main reason DAD get's so much flack...Because it pays homage to most of the 007 movies due to the 40th anniversary. So it seems "cliche".

Selina Kyle
Die another day is definatly the worst it's CRAP. The special effects are crap, the storyline is worse than the special effects and i hate halle berry as a bond girl(and in general). The only good thing in it is the car !

Mr Parker
I agree with EVERYTHING you said Selina.Especially about Halle Berry.I cant stand her as a Bond girl either. sick

maham
i just HATE jamie!!!he's SICK!!!

Oh yeah... I thought that bikini looked familiar.

But still, not as bad as everyone says it is. stick out tongue

Personally I thought that the worst one was "On her Majesty's Secret Service" but I've heard that it's many other peoples favorites... just my opinion... I just didn't like it very much.. confused

Eis
It was quite good, imo.
I absolutely hated the fact that Bond got married* though.

*I know it happened ages ago, but many Bond fans haven't seen it, so just in case.

The worst?? Hmm, well the most rushed was without question The Man With The Golden Gun, and it looked it too. Thus I found it the weakest Bond entry. However....I still find it less objectionable than D.A.D which bored me and annoyed me in equal measure. Soo.. by a whisker I'm gonna choose D.A.D is the worst.

Mr Parker
the ones with Pierce Brosnan in them. sick

hang Fanboyism

Die Another Day takes this, followed by Her Majesty's Secret Service, Tommorow Never Dies, and any Roger Moore Film

Rampant ox
Me? A fanboy? Never!! stick out tongue

Seriously though, I think that The Man With The Golden Gun had some of the best acting and imo the best story line. Replace Roger Moore with Sean Connery as James Bond and you would have an awesome movie. Not that Mr Moore is bad - I just like Sean more. And Scaramanga is the best villan out of the whole James Bond series - he is also played by the best actor in the world.

I agree.yeah that one is the worst for me as well.your kidding right? I have NEVER heard anybody say that that one is their favorite.

Kid Kurdy
Moonraker was AWFUL. A really bad movie, without any doubt the worst Bond movie ever.

Mr Parker
Naw Die another day was easily the worst ever.

bakerboy
In my opinion, the worst of all of them is die another die.

On her majesty secret service was a good movie with a great plot, but with the worst bond , George Lazenby, that is the main problem with this movie. If this movie would be starring Connery or Moore, it would be one of the best on the series.

And best one , goldfinger.

Darth Kreiger
Die Another Day, it ripped off the plots of several movies, Diamonds are Forever being the most

The villains were a bunch of crap, especially "Mr.Kill" or whatever the hell his name was.

The only good part of that movie was the opening with the Hovercraft.

Tangent
The movie-going public has spoken, and DAD is the most successful Bond film in years. That doesn't necessarily make it the best, but with a Bond who has suffered and strong female characters, it's given new life to the series.
At the time, I really enjoyed TLD, which has good chemistry between Dalton and D'Abo. But in retrospect, the glorification of Afghan mujahedeen seems a particularly reprehensible bit of Cold War politics. Anyone for Bond joining the Taliban?
Otherwise, Tanya Roberts may have a great body but her character makes AVTAK annoying _ JAAAAAAAMES!
MWTGG was hastily cobbled together, but it's just dull, not horrible.
I'd put OHMSS more in the category of a noble failure. The plot elements may not mix, but it's worth the attempt. George Lazenby's a stiff, but he's human. Heavy makeup and even more heavily padded bras can't disguise Diana Rigg's flat chest and blotchy skin, but she's otherwise adequate. Telly Savalas is a thug, not a super-villain, but he's enjoying himself.

Originally I said on her majestys secret service and I hated it mostly because of Lazenby as Bond but I got to go with Die Another Day because Lazenby was the only thing I hated about On Her Majestys Secret Service where with Die Another Day, two actors -the horrible acting of Brosnan and the ugly looking Halle Berry ruined that movie mostly for me.

NoFate007
On Her Majesty's Secret Service, definitely.

Why?

1. I have no objection to Bond getting married...however she's so ugly in comparison to other girls he's been involved with.
2. The plot sucked. I'm sorry. It sucks.
3. "This never happened to the other guy." - Oh come on now.
4. Bond reading Playboy...that whole scene is just atrocious. Its long, boring, and my god I just hate it with a passion.
5. Telly Savalas is totally lacking intimidating. Pleasance was the best one so far (unless you count the off-screen performances).
6. The opening titles must've been rushed beyond imagination, just using clips of old films. Terrible. (Good song though...but it could've used lyrics).
7. The worst Bond out of them all. He just was terrible. Just terrible.
8. By far...the worst part of this movie.....THAT FREAKING CHRISTMAS SONG THAT NEVER STOPS THROUGHOUT THE FILM. MY GOD!!!!! That is perhaps THE most annoying song I've ever heard in my entire life. It ranks right up there with such shit like "we're off to see the wizard" and "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt.

OHMSS is definitely the worst Bond film. Some Bond films have sucked in certain categories, like how Moonraker's special effects make it a joke (as well as Jaws' role in the movie), the character of Dr. Christmas Jones (though I think Elektra was one of the best female characters we've had in a long while), the parachute thing in Die Another Day, the music in For Your Eyes Only, ugly Maud Adams as Octopussy (she was attractive in The Man with the Golden Gun...aging sucks lol)...but yeah, OHMSS gets my vote.
