My CD drive isnt working. It does not detect cds...

any idea of how to fix it?

Bloigen
Are you sure the "cds" you're putting in aren't really, really, really flat doughnuts?

kaneda_284
hmmm...this may be a guess but it's probably doubling over as a slave drive for one of your other drives such as the floppy drive. you can go to My Computer and try and fix it. how though, is beyond me.

Smack it around a few times, preferably using something heavy and solid, like a hammer or a baseball bat smile

My mate had this problem. Try changing the region of the drive. To do so go to:

Control Panel-System-Hardware- Device Manager

When there select the drive and theres an option to change the regions

If an error message is coming up do a search for the problem.

There are no regions for CD's.

Try restoring your comp to a date when the drive worked. I did that once and it fixed the problem
